    Troubles in Noumea

Watched the local news earlier this evening, I think they said that CRS 8 (very heavy police) is coming to Noumea. If so, things should get back to normal soon. Anyhow, QF rebooked us on Friday's flight home.

    Troubles in Noumea

NOU closed until (at least) the 16th. https://www.aircalin.nc/en/breaking-news Hotel is quite empty, so some more enforced relaxation. There was lots of noise outside just before curfew started, now it's quieter than a typical Sunday.

    Troubles in Noumea

Review the NZ Herald link in my original post. It's not all baguettes and sunshine in New Caledonia, plenty of troubles that date back to original colonisation.

    Cabin temperatures

Planning on taking mother to SIN and KIX in a few weeks for a "last trip" before her mobility decreases to the point where travel isn't an option. I haven't been on SQ A350 or 787-10 aircraft (or SQ post-COVID) - do the J cabins run warmer than one would generally expect? We're planning her...

Pan Am flight 50 - Around the World

Wasn't sure where to post this, however I found a fascinating video of PA's around the world across both poles flight for their 50th anniversary. Show some youngsters how people used to fly - the clothes, the service, the attitudes.

Qantas Business Class meals & menus

Onboard QF622 MEL-BNE now. Chicken foccacia toastie, we didn't try that. Beef pesto salad, a solid winner. Plenty of tender beef and a good solid serve of potatoes with some tomatoes and olives. Hilarious crew.

    Bonza Airline Discussion

If my memory serves me correctly, QF group got onto Impulse due to their lower cost base and used it as the seed for Jetstar. I wonder if VAII could do the same to Bonza and rebrand it? Crazy thought I know.

    Bonza Airline Discussion

I don't think Bonza would like sectors over two hours, they reduce the opportunity to charge for ancillaries per hour.

Article: Virgin Business Class: Domestic Tops International

Yes indeed. I've always felt welcome with VA in J and they do seem to be empowered (or care enough) to make up what they can from what is available to eat in the aircraft. A few years ago there was an OOL-MEL that departed at 1740h, literally 20 minutes before it was an official dinner flight -...
