But if you're still in doubt just call and double check before activation...

    Billt Can confirm Amex keeps pestering with credit limit invitations although I only spend about a quarter of my limit monthly. And they didn't stop after I reduced the limit to a nice round figure. I'd say just keep spending and you'll almost certainly get an invite to increase.

    Yep, i did mean statement :) I have just had a second look, our final statement arrived 7 calendar days after the closure date. The account was still visible in online banking all that time, but disappeared next day after the final statement was generated.
