Buying Qantas top-up points with a bonus: Worth it?

Even with the cheapest option, the points in this promo come to 1.78c each. Ouch! Then someone goes and buys CR+ with that - and the house wins again very handsomely.

LHR T3 lounge crawl Saturday 6 June 2026

I can borrow an ultra-light tent, if you need. 0.7 kg and fits nicely in the hand luggage. Add 0.6 kg extra and you'll get an air mattress, too.

Flight to London - which airline?

Japan Airlines economy is nice and roomy, a good alternative for the premium economy of some airlines. The service is Japanese, i.e. usually very courteous. I'd consider them as a good candidate for this trip.

    AFF Gathering #17 in BNE on 18 - 20 October 2024

City Hall is a nice place to visit and the tower offers nice views to the CBD. It's well worth an hour or two. On a very different note but related to your own activities: if you do geocaching, Brisbane scene is a good one (better than how I experienced Sydney). There are hides for many styles...

    AFF Gathering #17 in BNE on 18 - 20 October 2024

Friday casual lunch (not a part of the official AFF program but a good way to get to know some early birds): 1 pm at Bird's Nest, West End. I've booked a table for 6 but will monitor this thread and add seats, if needed. If you have any dietary requirements, please check their menu. If it looks...

And if you get hungry midway through sailing on CityCats, you can hop off at Teneriffe or Bulimba and explore the nice eateries in those areas. Or continue to Eat Street in Hamilton.

Theft in lounges - how frequent?

And you can protect the entry to the pocket much better and notice a lot easier if someone makes an attempt to pinch it. Often, when unsure of my surroundings, I keep my hand in the pocket to cover the wallet.

    AFF Gathering #17 in BNE on 18 - 20 October 2024

From gold > bronze > now back to gold. The anticipated work commitments have disappeared and I'm free as a bird to travel. Likely arrival on Thursday evening, departure Sunday evening. Splitting the time between this event, kids and friends. When's the program expected out, please? It'd help...

Theft in lounges - how frequent?

I usually carry my phone, passport, BP and wallet to the buffet, bathroom, etc. Laptop goes back into the bag ("out of sight, out of mind"). But I do leave my bags behind to keep the table reserved. Or, if for some reason I decide to take the bags with me, I'll then also risk losing my seat and...

What is the statute of limitations on “never again”?

What Seat0B wrote about Prague is how I see Vienna, another highly revelled European city. As soon as I stepped away from the tourist focal points, it became a lot more enjoyable. Eat where they locals eat, visit the smaller museums, find the Christmas markets where the locals socialise, and...

Qantas to Introduce Group Boarding and Bag Tracking

It won't need any IT but can be run on a manual process, just like JL and CX do it: have an agent comb the queues and guide people into the right ones. It's about the want, not the tools. The tools will just automate parts of it and take manual effort off the process.

Or simply, fly enough. You can maintain WP on a single return flight a year, or wear your bum on the seat year round in the triangle and remain PS. The more boardings you have, the more you know to appreciate when it works well. 😎
