BA Cancelled segment of award - QFF charged fee to fix! [Fee now refunded]

You should absolutely not be charged a change fee for an airline schedule change, regardless of which airline had the change. An airline initiated change, at no request of the pax is an airline problem to fix. QF ticket, QF as the booking agent, QF fixes it. Quite amazing that they have made it...

Who on AFF are the cruise gurus and what are your preferred cruise lines and ships?

You can’t put the three in the same category - they’re really different and it is unusual to suggest all three to someone. Ponant is the only expedition orientated option. HAL will be pretty much scenic cruising, and Seabourn will be in between. Depends on the guest and how engaging you want...

Trust Qantas with credit card details?

There shouldn't be a need to provide the details a second time. QF definitely store the card and the refund is sent back to that card by default. Sounds strange. That said, doubt it is anything dodgy as far as fraud is concerned, more likely a QF process has broken somewhere along the line.

Cancelling a flight does not seem to cancel check in if you've already checked in before you cancel

Definitely that is the easiest all round (particularly for changes), but if someone has checked in, then the system shouldn’t allow a cancellation without un-checking in. With the app spamming you to check in, you feel like you’re doing the wrong thing by not doing what it tells you. But it...

    VA Missed Flight policy?

Oh the pain of early flights! Strictly by the rule book, the change has to happen prior to the original flight’s departure, and if that isn’t done, then the ticket becomes non-refundable. Given the change is over $1000, I’m guessing you’ve already looked at that, so then you’re hoping for the...

Cancelling a flight does not seem to cancel check in if you've already checked in before you cancel

The problem is when checked in has been completed. If not checked in, it would have all been ok. Similar to a change in flight, if the passenger has checked in you first have to get them unchecked in before you can change the ticket. It sounds like the QF online system sends the booking to a...

Points not credited - middle names on booking

I have seen AY points claims rejected for no apparent reason, which get fixed when you follow up. So this could just be that. Keep at it regardless - they let you on the flight with the name that way so they should definitely give you the points!

    No middle name on ticket

Glad you asked the question and are now feeling more comfortable and can relax and can get back to looking forward to the trip! Cathay's policy is to book flights including middle names, but Qantas ignore that when they do redemption bookings. They should know it causes problems and book it...

    JL flight booking problems

Am not sure where/what country ITA is getting it's availability from, but there is no O Class on those dates, or really anything around them, so that's why the fares aren't giving you what you want.

Cancelled Qantas flight through agent - can I redeem through qantas.com direct?

You'll need to use the voucher through the original booking channel. Their "5mins" work is still more than Qantas is doing for their $90.

Hi everyone, planning a RTW business flight for myself and 3 family memers oct and nov 2020

With the cruise segment from Europe to North America, you’ll need either a fare that allows that (the Finnair doesn’t) or you’ll need to look at a series of one ways, or a ME airline open jaw (but if you’re finishing in LA, that is a looooooong way home). Your traditional OW and SA round the...

    How to book stopovers

While a TA can do this easily, I believe in the online search space you use a Multi City search. It is still a stopover and has nothing to do with Married Segments if it is >24hrs.

    Jetstar insurance

Some policies will pay for those expenses, yes. But each is different. You’ll also need to have one with $0 Excess, otherwise the expenses won’t have reached the excess level.

You can still use QF on the Pacific with the LH/LX/OS fares.

    Qantas Business Flex refunds

If it says refund, then you'll get a refund, less any fee they'll charge. They may try and play games and try and get you to put it into credit, but you just say no and you'll get the refund.

Does the QF designation depend on the booking agency?

Normally the QF/EK code selection makes no difference to the price. However, there are periods of round 7-14 days, a couple of times of the year, where that logic doesn’t apply and the cheapest fares will be QF out and EK back (or vice versa). That persists for a little while, and then it all...

    SQ or CX premium

We would get consistently good feedback on SQ and consistently poor feedback on CX. If you're just after some more legroom, then CX because it will more than likely be cheaper. But then you could also just buy an exit row seat in Economy.

    QF Sale end date

It would appear they don’t publish this on their website. It would have expected it to have been in the “Full Fare Conditions”, but I can’t see it. The call centre should be able to tell you, but for some reason they couldn’t this time.

    QF Sale end date

It is in the Sales Restrictions section of the fare rules. Hilarious that the QF supervisor couldn’t even find it - I think you learn than on Day 1 of fares training!
