    'Scheduled System Outage' all weekend

Beat me to it. That's a long outage though, must be some pretty hefty changes going on.

Australian traveller compensated by AA after being ‘wedged between two obese siblings’

My head extends several inches above the seat and my knees hit the seat in front on most Y seats, do I need to purchase the seat in front and above me also? I think you meant if you are too WIDE for the seat and your lard cough is hanging into the next one then you should either get off or pay...

Travelling experiences with armed soldiers and guards

I remember a few flights in mid to late 2020 domestically that had cops with guns and army personnel with guns also, was worse than immigration at times!

    Switch from Qantas to Virgin

I like the typo for Hostie to Hostile, fitting when describing the standing in the way of Y pax and blocking access to the J cabin (which I am all for btw).

    Most comfortable economy class seat?

I find Virgin seats to be to thin and everytime someone behind you opens their table, fumbles around in the pocket or just puts their feet up you get a poke in the back. Row 3 is good though, nice leg room and the little angled bit on the newer planes is a good foot rest.

Qantas faces court test over duty of care to customers

I am confused about this whole thing (and not being able to access the entire story isn't helping). So the PAX was on their way to the airport when they found out about a delay. They didn't get Qantas to fix it but instead decided to just book flights themselves and then ask Qantas to pay for...

Qantas stops vegetarian meals on shorter domestic flights

So the Guardian article seems like a beat up piece based on one person's alleged experience and extrapolated to be that Qantas hates Vegans, when in fact it is quite the opposite?

Qantas stops vegetarian meals on shorter domestic flights

So the solution is to force everyone to always eat vegetarian on flights? That really won't go over well.

Calls for compensation for cancelled / delayed flights

ABC Article A few snippets from the article which is actually quite long Nice to see some media outlets bringing this to a wider audience and seemingly having groups like Choice getting behind it might even get some legs behind things. Not holding my breath here but it is a start I suppose.

Qantas stops vegetarian meals on shorter domestic flights

They offer an option that caters to vegan/GF etc. as one. A savoury puff with no protein/ meat doesn't suit everyone either. Qantas can't keep every single person happy so they have to go with the numbers.

Qantas stops vegetarian meals on shorter domestic flights

A vast majority of people eat meat and humans evolved as such. A minority of people won't, the airlines are doing what they should, catering to the most likely scenario which is someone wants a proper meal with meat.

    Carry-on backpack style recommendations.

I did not usually take spare shoes in carry on either, size 12-13us for me.

    Carry-on backpack style recommendations.

That was my first thought, and at the moment my current plan but figured I'd see if anyone else has recommendations. I might just go the 40l version. Just double checked my bag currently is a 25L so will go the 40L sizie if I stick to the Pacsafe Vibe (which I have been very happy with, got it...

    Carry-on backpack style recommendations.

I am looking for a new backpack for carry-on use. I have a nice PacSafe Vibe 20l backpack that I use daily and for quick day trips is usually all I take as I can fit a shirt, socks and deodorant in the front pocket with my laptop and chargers in the back. I am looking for something a bit bigger...

Article: USA Proposes Mandatory Refunds for Aircraft Type Downgrades

This sort of thing needs to happen in Australia. If the media started making the general public aware of some of these rights that other countries have in terms of air travel then there may be some ground swell of political support from being pressured by the voters, but at the moment the...

    In-flight Wi-Fi on Virgin Australia

To those that say user pays is better as it is built into the cost on Qantas, that is the point. For lots of people who fly for work, work pays for the flight and when on board Qantas you don't have to pull out your card to pay for food, WiFi, using the toilet or whatever, on Virgin you do and...

    In-flight Wi-Fi on Virgin Australia

It's the LCC model. I thought Virgin was trying to not be an LCC but they are doing everything they can to appear as one.

    In-flight Wi-Fi on Virgin Australia

I agree with this. Virgin keeps trying to compete with Qantas on product but always is just behind (yes Qantas is failing miserably on delivery at the moment so Virgin isn't as far behind). Qantas - Give everyone WiFi, Virgin hmm how can we make money off this?
