Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

Who is going to address the elephants in the room about what if any cages fit under the Y seat of a VA B737 not much room under there? What happens if people take pets out of cages in flight? What has been the EU/US experience in this case? Who has consulted the airports and the cabin crew & the...

Rex launches its own frequent flyer program (in October 2023)

Looks like they did a batch file/credit processing backdated to the 5th Nov 2023 recently from my screenshot, obviously all my pre-Novv 2023 claims were rejected. (The initial 5000 points credited correctly but are hidden away on page 2 and not in this screenshot). Like most here I have only...

Jayne Hrdlicka to resign as CEO

If I remember correctly a lot of VA staff took pay cuts to save their jobs in 2020 & 2021 along with a lot of redundancies, so this $25M of "increasing wages" would be somewhere along the path to recovering the wages and conditions that were lost in 2020? Bain needed to do the sale before the...

Does anyone have any idea what QF780 is doing tonight?

If the APU issue makes that A332 so useless for even transcon let alone international routes shouldn't it be fixed? Or instead, used on the golden triangle for the next few days until the parts arrive? That way you could use some B738s for transcons, and use the aircraft on a SYD MEL-BNE...

    Bonza Airline Discussion

Yeah thats just weird. Imagine having an empty spare B737 sitting around today of all days given the expected traffic around the country and especially into Melbourne, revenue management asleep it seems? Unless Bonza canceled something else instead that that particular aircraft was supposed to fly.

QantasLink acquires 6 more A320s to based in PER due to surge in demand

Indeed - no one will ever complain about an F100 once they get a trip in that 150 seat configured A319.

Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding

Its been covered before in this thread Qantas doesn't care about priority boarding. But the best advertising for status and class of service on an airline is doing priority boarding right, and showing the massive long queue of people waiting to get on the aircraft that pax entitled to priority...

Tokyo Haneda slot - How will Virgin Operate it? [CNS-HND flights ceased Feb '25]

Maybe - although I wouldn't think that the IASC would be too swayed by empty promises in the future. The problem would seem to be that in the decision making process either pre-Bain or Bain itself, was that the decision makers should have been told that saying bye bye to the A330s would also be...

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

I just have a quick question if you see this jb747, I understand that you are saying that leaking doors are extremely noticeable and noisy but my question is - what if the failed seal plug is hidden behind interior panels and insulation? I understand that traditional doors and emergency windows...

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

Yeah - that was the only one I could think of where nearly everyone got on the ground safely and the aircraft landed in one piece, that Aloha would have been a -200 Classic model and pre 9/11 coughpit doors. Yep - happened in the 1988 incident as well, obviously air pressure differential too...

    Another Jetstar whinge

Yeah something is missing from this story, so JQ check-in accepted the checked-in baggage and presumably, it was to be loaded onto the aircraft, the passenger was most likely directed to pay at another Jetstar counter at the airport, and whether through miscommunication or some other reason did...

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

Have we had a survivable sudden cabin decompression in a B737 of any variety post 9/11 reinforcement of flight deck doors? I would have thought this door architecture is unchanged from the previous NG variants? Or do the newer -Max variants have different flight deck doors?

Man Removed off JQ Flight After Vaping, Exposing Himself, Taking the Piss

Indeed - I followed the discussion as being about the trigger event that precedes the 'air rage' or offloading/arrest/detention of the passenger(s)- this is the airlines often doing it to themselves: 1. seating density - totally controlled by the airlines. 2. checked-in baggage fees -...

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

Yes - seems those coughpit doors aren't as secure as we thought, if that happens during a decompression event. Obviously, they should be pretty effective at keeping intruders out, but I wonder what mode of failure or condition would need to exist for that to happen?

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

Thanks for your kind thoughts - its off-topic but as a follow-up to this Mrs Eastwest101 did get fast approval from the Federal Government at the time to exit Australia and the Japanese Government expedited their inbound quarantine so they got to spend a few days with the dying relative before...

FAA grounds 737 Max 9 Aircraft Indefinitely after Alaska Airlines incident

Thanks for that. Hadn't realised there was such a confusing array of options of plugs/deactivated doors/and active doors and different type/categories of doors that are options on the NG -900, -900ER and the Max8-200, Max-9 & Max-10. I suspect that these mid-cabin exit doors will become known...

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

Let me rephrase points 1 to 4 for you: 1. Qantas is the designated flag carrier of Australia and is a private company so should be protected from all competitors. 2. Qatar a state-owned flag carrier has access to government backing & if it competes then the law of supply and demand ceases to...

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

You keep on flitting around between various specious arguments that have been thrown up before by the transport minister to explain the federal government decision: 1. If the airline QR is such a security risk then why are they still flying here? 2. if the treatment of passengers at DOH airport...

Qatar denied extra capacity into Australia

So using your logic anyone who is an export trade competitor or an "adversary" to Australia should be banned from flying here - so goodbye to all the following domiciled airlines: Qatar, Air New Zealand, South Africa, India, Oman, Canada, Singapore, PNG, all US airlines, Chile and Thai airlines...

    Qantas A330-200 cabin refurbishments

Would have been handier in service during the last 10 months or so with passenger seats on it, making revenue, rather than a hare-brained Covid panicdemic thought bubble/being parked up in Germany.....
