    Access to lounge in DFW

Hi, we're flying QF to DFW, and then onwards to MCO on AA (but not on the same ticket). We are QP members, will that get us into a lounge? The Q website lists the Gideon Toal lounge as the only one, which by the looks of the QF website, excludes QP unless we are flying QF. cheers

45% off Qantas Club - 72 hours only

You da man Shintaro! I actually let my QP lapse (deliberately), as Mrs VC is going to take up a membership, as she will by flying regularly with her new job, and with my new job will only fly with the family. We were about to get her a membership in the next week or so, until I read this...

Air Berlin loses a whole planeload of luggage

Possible answers: 1- Maybe they did load the luggage, and the Captain accidentally hit the "bombs away" button. (possibly over England/insert any Allied country here) 2- Planes are getting harder to hijack, so some hijacker thought the next best thing was to hijack the luggage train instead...

Pay 1.5% Surcharge to Earn 60k QFF Points worth it?

I bought my MC on the card for a whole stack of points. I think 1.5% is about the limit though. But that would be on AMEX, not MC/VISA. I would not pay any surcharge at all on those. And the AMEX MSF would never be more than 1.5% over that of MC/VISA You need to spend you points wisely...

    EDR Targeted Bonus Point Promotions

Hmm, I just got a Masters Hardware "save $10 when you spend $50" offer. Spending fifty bucks at a hardware store I can do in the blink of an eye. I didn't even realize they were part of The EDR Club. Problem is, the only one within a bulls roar is at Chullora. That's about 5 Bunnings's away...

    Land line phones in Lounges

Of course! How else would they prepare our tasty snacks?? I see the point of not having landlines available for customer use, but in a J or F lounge it seems a tad crazy. You give your lounge guests free food and drinks but you don't let them make a phone call? Maybe it should be restricted...

    Land line phones in Lounges

So how does management call the lounge? How do the lounge staff call security/housekeeping/maintenance/fire services/medical? Or are they expected to use their own mobiles? No landline does not pass the sniff test. Nobody takes all the landlines out of commercial premises. (Although I do know...

    Ashtrays on A380s

Well, technically, they're already gassing themselves.... And I think the fuselage of an airliner is a tad too smooth to make keelhauling effective. Not enough barnacles...

Discussion on Cats, Moggies and Felines in general [with Pictures]

Re: The totally off-topic thread If I were to take a stab at the reason, it would more towards the design spec more than an actual flaw. I guess they didn't have enough ductility for lateral forces at the tip. Not that you should be subjecting the knife to such forces. If it didn't break it...

Credit card sized gadgets - what do you have?

Get a Swiss Card: Victorinox SwissCard Lite - Sapphire Swiss Army Knife | mySwissArmyKnife Don't try getting on a plane though with it, because, OH NO IT HAS SCISSORS!! A friend had his confiscated. Those 1cm scissors can be a real hazard you know *cough*

FAA to Relax Rules for Gadgets in Flight [WSJ]

No talking either. Sit up straight and face front! Have to give the FAs some of those old fashioned 1 metre rulers (or yard actually).

Was TWA Flight 800 shot down?

No doubt. And. The Twin Towers were brought down by the CIA (or whoever) with explosives. AND. We never actually went to the moon. *cough cough* At face value, and without delving into it. What kind of missile? Any small Shoulder Launched or even an AAMRAM is going to target an engine. I...

    coles insurance - surprisingly cheap

Hmm, I have everything with NRMA, It's worth some multi-policy discount too. Mind you, I just got a new van and insured it through Real Insurance for way less than NRMA. Did the business insurance through AAMI. Again way cheaper. But what really counts is claim time (haven't had one for a long...

We got our coupon book two weeks ago, alternating $10 off for a $40 spend, with 2000 points for a $40 spend, for 10 weeks. Last week I managed to lose my damn voucher for the 2K points (came out of my pocket with the shopping list, grrr), This week we did a small shop (we normally go WW for...

Air India Pilots hand over control to FA's for a 40-minute break

What is crazy, is why did they both need to leave? Back in the day we called this "a soldier's five". The five minute lesson to operate (insert large piece of military hardware here). And it's literally five minutes. If not less. I remember the Soldiers Five on using a four and a half ton...

Got Myer One? [Earn points at Caltex]

Got Myer One? There must be a new fight on between Shell and WW Caltex. See the Flybuys thread about now being able to use Flybuys with a Shell Card. Today, I'm fuelling at the local WW Caltex. He asks if I have Myer One. I'm like WTF? As of two weeks ago, they now accept Myer One in addition...
