Hi, we're flying QF to DFW, and then onwards to MCO on AA (but not on the same ticket).

We are QP members, will that get us into a lounge? The Q website lists the Gideon Toal lounge as the only one, which by the looks of the QF website, excludes QP unless we are flying QF.

cheers

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Would the QF flight from AUS be in F or J ?

If yes, you may have access under AA Admirals Club Policy for OneWorld flights (https://www.aa.com/i18n/travelInformation/airportAmenities/AdmiralsLocations.jsp).

If not, consider an AA pass (one or 30-day, depending on your needs).

As you say, QC membership + QF flight number are required for AC access so an AA flight would be unsuitable.

I was in that lounge only last month for a brief 5 min (WP, AA flight number).

As you have Qantas Club membership, yes you'll be able to access the Admirals Clubs in DFW (there are several of them) so long as you're flying out on AA.

Eligibility and Access to The Qantas Club Lounges | Qantas

In addition to Qantas Club lounges, you can relax in American Airlines[SUP]®[/SUP] Admirals Club lounges in other locations. For applicable lounge locations please visit www.aa.com.
Note: Lounge access eligibility is based on the class of travel, Qantas club membership or the Frequent Flyer Membership tier for your next onward flight.

Not according to the smaller print

"Qantas Club Member:

Next onward flight that day must be a Qantas or Jetstar Airlines+ flight number.

One guest allowed and must be travelling with the member on the same flight."

No mentioning of AA flight for QC members (http://www.qantas.com.au/travel/air...nge-gideon-toal-management-services/global/en)

That refers to the contract lounge QF use in terminal D (before QF8).

Access to A/C's is different, see the link posted by drewbles.

There are four A/C's at DFW, choose the one nearest your gate.

The link I quoted is as followed from drewbles' link

Am I missing something, Prof. Serfty ?

this is not correct.

Qantas Club and AA have reciprocal paid-member lounge access. This means Qantas club members are welcomed at any AAdmirals Club lounge provided their next onward flight is with AA.

under the 'Access to Partner Airline Lounges' heading is the following text:

In addition to Qantas Club lounges, you can relax in American Airlines[SUP]®[/SUP] Admirals Club lounges in other locations. For applicable lounge locations please visit www.aa.com.

This is what I found on aa.com

There is a mention of Oneworld Premium (Emerald / Sapphire) but no mentioning of QC membership.

In fact, digging deeper, this is what I found:

QC Lounge Access 005.jpg

It seems to clearly excluding QC membership

Yes.

For the purposes of this particular issue, AAdmirals Club Lounges are NOT associated lounges.

There is a completely separate agreement for Qantas Club members to use AAdmirals club based on the paid-member reciprocal arrangements.

This is what I found on aa.com

You are wrong :) (well - you are wrong in the 'no access' but the information you have found is right :))

Many of us have been using AA lounges for years under this agreement. Nothing has changed. It is a legacy arrangement that used to cover BA Executive Clubs (long since gone) and AAdmirals Clubs.

That you didn't know there was a benefit doesn't mean it is not there :)

I am happy to be corrected.

Never been a QC member really, just following the web scripts as shown.

I am not aware of the "agreement" you mentioned.

There is some controversies on ABT recently but some posters did mention they had no issue i.e. you are right - despite what the QF & AA website appears to state.

it's a case of people not knowing the rules, and their incorrect assumptions are spread when they start writing on websites without knowing the facts.

there is no evidence anywhere to suggest anyone has been denied access to an admirals club as a QC member (when flying onwards on AA).

and btw, the answer to the last post on the austbt site is 'yes'... AAdmirals Club members get full access to QC lounges when flying on QF.

As a QP member I have been in several AC lounges at DFW in recent months while flying in/out on AA in Y. Bookings were made direct with AA - no QF flight numbers. I was waved in with no issues, the same way as I have been for years. Of course AC lounges are nothing to write home about.

It is only the rights to BA lounge access for QP when flying BA (and QF via LHR) that have disappeared as a result of the dissolution of the BA JSA / marriage to EK.

...
As indicated by MEL_Traveller this reciprocal agreement has bee around a long time.

There are no caveats in the quote, no *'s no footnotes or anything else - it is what it is:

You only need to follow that link to find where A/C's exist.

FWIW, there was a period of time that ended a few years ago, that a QP member had access to US airways clubs before a US airway flight.

I was a QP member for 6 years and used it regularly in the USA when flying AA. As serfty and I have posted, it's fine. The associated lounges are not Admirals Clubs. AA's lounges are partner lounges. Associated are lounged provided for QF flights specifically, like the associated lounge in DFW (for DFW-BNE).
