Interestingly, the 'fifth pod' arrangement described here can only be done with the 744's Rolls Royce engines, and not with the GE ones fitted to the 744ERs. One of the few good things about the RR over the GE's!

I was booked to fly on the A380 on QF11 SYD-LAX today (5 Nov). Got a call last night from the lovely lady at Qantas advising that we had been moved to the earlier (reliable, B747 operated) QF107. Unfortunately Economy was full on that flight so we had to accept the upgrade to Business :) So...

Totally agree. It's outrageous the CC charge, and is not a reflection their actual cost. I made a FF redemption booking a couple of months ago SYD-HKG, fees and taxes came to about $140, $25 of which was a CC fee. That equates to about a 21% credit card service fee!

I've been using Dropbox for a while now too, and thoroughly enjoying it. Bandwidth not a problem. Most users are only transferring small files when it syncs.

Overhead locker space could be a problem, particulalry if you board late, and particularly on the 738. But then no-one reclining on you is a plus.

People who put their bags in the overhead lockers above Row 4, when they are seated in Row 26.

Unfortunately not. International upgrade requests must be made before -24hrs. Personally, I would prefer an aisle seat to the A/K exit seats. WT

CX options often appear on sectors where QF also operates. For example, I booked a redemption seat on CX SYD-HKG via the QF website last week (just two days before travel). As QF doesn't fly via HKG to FRA, I'm assuming that is why it doesn't appear. WT
