Japan Airlines plane in flames at Tokyo's Haneda airport

BA's was also the one I was thinking of that says "take nothing with you" in their safety briefing. Last time I flew VA (maybe 5 years ago) they had a fairly long bit in theirs, something like "for your own safety and the safety of others, please do not attempt to take any cabin baggage with...

Japan Airlines plane in flames at Tokyo's Haneda airport

I certainly remember hearing the phrase "taking nothing with you" from other airlines that I've flown recently, also to remove high heel shoes as they may tear the slide. Have to admit I don't remember the videos, as many these days are trying to be more entertainment than safety messages...

    Qantas - new SYD-AKL-YYZ 787 service rumours

Correct, same as LHR-SIN-LHR, worked by London-based crew (who QF can pay less than Aussie crews, despite London cost of living being higher).

Slow posting of Status Credits from Partners

I flew Emirates on QF codeshares almost 3 weeks ago, ticketed by Qantas. The flights appeared in my QFF account and I even was able to select seats on EK metal using Qantas MMB. A few days after the flight I got a survey email from Qantas asking how I'd rate flying with Emirates, and if I...

I don't know the answer to most Qantas "security" questions!

I’ve gone to login tonight and after getting the SMS code it wants me to answer 3 of these questions to login. Is there a way to opt-out of this?

    The Qantas Newbie Questions Thread

September 2025? As in almost 2 years time? Things may well change between now and then. Anyway, I recently witnessed someone in a similar situation and the lounge attendant said something like "and how will you be entering today?" to the 3rd person, and then clarified, to some confused looks...

Article: The Increasingly Desperate Flybuys & Woolies Offers When You Stop Shopping

After leaving Australia, I obviously stopped spending with both major chains and all their associated stores. Both started sending me generous bonus point offers, which I ignored being overseas. After a while, the Flybuys offers got less frequent. I rarely get anything from them now...

    Request an upgrade website broken?

Maybe I'm somehow doing it wrong, but I can't seem to get the upgrade request to load properly either on the app or the website. I've tried a few times over the past few days and keep getting random error messages that don't make much sense to me. Today's is "PNR was not found in the URL" Is...

    NAB acquires Citibank Australia

I had the same issue + more. Not only was an old Australian address but also the tax details (Australian tax resident / TFN) from my old NAB account from over 10 years ago. Citi have my current UK address and foreign tax residency details, but NAB decided to override it with their own outdated...

Middle name shown on passport but not flight tickets

I think it's unfair to call her a slow learner as she would have been reassured by the experience with Scoot that it wasn't actually a problem and something minor that could be fixed at check-in with little fuss and at no additional cost.

QF WP booking flights through CX FF

I can't answer for CX, but I have done with BA as their redemptions are similarly better value than using QFF points. The trick with BA is to select that you're making the booking for someone else (not yourself), but then enter your own name into the passenger details. This way it doesn't...

We'd like your feedback on Australian aviation policy

I suppose one thing that hasn't really been mentioned is that delay compensation across all forms of transport is the norm in other parts of the world but unusual in the Australian transport market. The UK and Europe also have these 'delay repay' schemes for train travel, including government...

    LHR-PER-SYD with a 737 for the connecting PER-SYD

It's only a 4 hour flight, so not the worst, but agree not ideal. Is it at least a smooth transfer/transit in Perth airport? Arrive and depart from T3/T4. And does anyone know if there's decent shower facilities in the Qantas Club in Perth? Assume the International Lounge can't be used on...

    LHR-PER-SYD with a 737 for the connecting PER-SYD

Thanks all, the main reason not considering QF2 via SIN is the timing and jetlag. I'd prefer to avoid an early morning arrival into Sydney from a relatively short overnight flight from Singapore. Would be happy with a morning arrival from DXB, so will probably go with EK.
