.....All dependant on the States and Territories controls ... definition of not too far off ?

Possibility of aircraft change on a SYD-PER flight

This is a key selling point for QF over VA. My company does a lot of SYD-PER travel - and amazingly, even with a BFOD policy (which allows a buffer of $50 towards QF as the preferred airline) everyone magically seems to book a QF A330.... :p

Upgrades no longer a PGR benefit at Rydges Hotels

Have been staying at Rydges and QTs regularly over the last year - some were questionable upgrades (QTs), others were clearly best in class upgrades (Rydges Tamworth, Newcastle), but in saying that it is really too different than pre-COVID. It is very much hotel dependant and if you are a...

Rex to fly between Australian capital cities

Sounds like these ‘regular (QF) employees’ are helping to push Rex’s passenger loads up then!... Probably not a good sign. I was on a 2pm QF flight MEL-SYD last week - was about 3/4 full (and full in J) - with mostly (rusted on) business flyers. Going to be very hard for Rex to entice these...

VA Economy Service changes - "Staff will be able to assist"

Until the “sorry sir/madam.. we have run out ...or catering wasn’t loaded”. For me I don’t want the hassle of another receipt or travel expense.

How do Hyatt treat you as an Elite?

Having just stayed there - I’d much rather the lounge - the hotel F&B prices are just outrageous, especially for a simple wine by the glass and the menu rather limited. The room service menu is even more limited. In the end I did what you suggested - bought a bottle of wine for a few nights-...

    Vinomofo Wine Deals

Had a bottle of this last night - surprisingly good with spicy Asian food, but suspect this is a one off experiment by the winery. Have a search for Wicked Pet...

Would you agree more support to tourism sector by the Government in all of year 2021?

Partly true in some SA and Sydney but Brisbane (with many business hotels shut for quarantine) and many parts of regional NSW (try Newcastle!) definitely not ‘never been cheaper’ with many services/amenities reduced.

PGR Escape & Stay Wild this Summer food and beverage terms and conditions.

I emailed as well and after 2 further clarification attempts I have been advised you can still get the dining discount on that rate BUT the F&B credit only applies to non discount charges (ie breakfast and room service and drinks without food). So if you spend $20 on non- discounted...

    Hyatt Regency Brisbane

Did not see this one coming - looks like the former Next Hotel in Queens Street Mall. Hopefully this is the way Hyatt will expand its ANZ footprint rather than announcing a build in 5 years and then never to be heard of again (Hobart...). Info is scant on the website but hope it will have a...

PGR Escape & Stay Wild this Summer food and beverage terms and conditions.

Used this at QT Canberra in early December - they took the $40 per night off the bill at the end regardless of the discounts applied with dining. As a Balck cardholder I don’t know how they made any money with that stay ... would be interested to see the response you get from PGR

Accor Movenpick Hotel to open in Hobart

Assume this is the Hyatt Centric which was announced .. and then all went quiet? Would have rathered a Hyatt ... typically avoid Accor hotels. But good to see some new hotels in Hobart!

Who else still holds the Citibank Free For Life Premier Card?

Same - use it mainly for the free bottles of wine on whilst dining as a few regular places are on there :p

Virgin Australia to be sold to Bain Capital

‘“Re-imagined” business class meals’... looks like they are starting from a low base then! Suggest they get Coles delivery with some $5 sandwiches. Wonder if the catering suppliers don’t want to deal with VA 2.0 just yet?

Lord Howe Island - October 2020

Despite travelling all over of the world to some pretty amazing places - this remains in my top 5 places of all time - and it is part of NSW... seeing the trip report makes me want to go back again!

    Qantas to Merimbula

Didn't take long for the dummy spit ! from Bega District News: "Given the small passenger numbers, and the competition posed by a secondary airline on a route where Rex has historically seen passenger numbers which do not support viable operations for two carriers, Rex wishes to provide formal...

    QLD border declaration

Have found many hotels are offering some great deals when booking direct - much better than the general discount travel booking websites and almost all are flexible Pay on Arrival. Win win for both parties really in the current climate.
