Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

Was this as part of a bigger ticket (involving connecting sectors) or just a stand alone one way ticket? If the latter I’d be checking what the competitor options are already, they might not be much different to the refund you should be due.

Jetstar Asia to shutdown on 31 July 2025

Not surprising. For various reasons Jetstar’s brand is nowhere near as strong as Scoot’s in the Singapore market. Also not 3k, but 3kg. makes a big difference. Scoot runs with a 10kg carry on policy whilst Jetstar has a 7kg policy. Those extra 3kgs make a big difference, people know that and...

Changi - different types of boarding passes for transit?

If it’s SQ to SQ I wouldn’t expect this needs to be done.

    QF2 diversion to Baku

TBH, if you look at countries that tend to have draconian laws against being gay, there's pretty low risk to an individual during a transit or an overnight stay due to diversion, unless there doing something intimate with a local. Often it's difficult to even tell if someone outside your own...

Qantas forcing everyone to use self-service check-in kiosks in AKL

That’s the thing. Some people can’t and won’t.

Qantas Changes Acknowledgement of Country arrival Announcement

This seems to be a sensible announcement, and an improvement. The welcome home comment seems to negate any sentiment around being welcomed to somewhere where you already live.

Qantas forcing everyone to use self-service check-in kiosks in AKL

My local one recently moved location within the shopping centre, with new design, and they only have a cash till with no ordering capability If you ask there to order they will send you to a kiosk. The old store still had a single counter for ordering and accepting cash, usually quicker to...

    Airfares to US to drop?

And my guess is those that are really most concerned by it, sitting at home sucking up the TV coverage are probably not the group of people who were ever likely to travel to the US anyway. Meanwhile those of us looking at news online probably don’t scroll far enough down to find it out...

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

You’re looking at this form the wrong perspective. SQ isn’t a Melbourne based airline so clearly what it defines as local is different . Look at these pastures.

    Airfares to US to drop?

Although LA always lends itself to trouble and theatrics - on both sides of an equation.

Qantas forcing everyone to use self-service check-in kiosks in AKL

Maccas has been rolled out extensively not only because of savings in labour. I've read articles suggesting it actually leads to people purchasing more than they would at a counter .. it makes more options available and people are less embarrassed to purchase extra food than they would at a...

    London Heathrow airport hotels

Also of note using the tube to get between Hatton Cross and any of the terminals at Heathrow (and vice versa) is free when using contactless credit card or Oyster card. It’s probably the easiest property to access that’s not actually located at/walking distance from one of the terminals (vs...

    What cheeses me off

Any thinking outside the box ideas? If the place is in good condition offer to pay first $100 of any repairs/callouts? Might be cheaper than an extra $20 in rent.

    Inflight theft

You’re probably overthinking it. There’s always a risk of bags being deliberately or inadvertently taken from carousels. Many of these syndicates are mainly looking for quick cash, jewellery and perhaps some cards as a bonus. There’s all of our small amounts of cash and cards that add up, but...

    Inflight theft

Seems to more effect routes Into countries where it’s common for people to move cash to. Thus it is not uncommon on routes to Singapore from various parts of Asia (eg Indonesia, China, India, Myanmar). Also I believe Dubai from certain countries as well.

Qantas Singapore Lounge Access on Arrival?

Yes it would be award booking in same PNR - one way classic award. The terminal may not be an issue as I’ve got a strong suspicion my partner might accidentally imbibe too much in the lounge and lose track of time and therefore accidentally miss his flight and have to catch a taxi straight...

Qantas Singapore Lounge Access on Arrival?

Didn't want to start a new thread, and it is related to "arrivals" access to the SIN F lounge. My partner (who is a PS) looking at a redemption MEL-SYD-SIN, with SYD-SIN in F on QF 81. However due to the transfer it would only be a short time in the SYD F lounge, and it's the breakfast...

    J LHR-MEL - MH or TG?

I’d say it depends. If taking the evening departure from LHR, that makes sense. if you take the morning departure from LHR, I’d argue the opposite. The longer first sector is a good thing for a better chance of a long sleep, whilst the sector to AU is a day flight, so sleeping all the way on...

Must you check you bags through on an overnight transit in SIN

Yes it is allowed. Just ask for them to be short checked to SIN when you check in.
