Loyalty programs - worse than cigarettes or crack cocaine.

@juddles - nicely written, thoughtful post. Looking forward to seeing the discussion as it unfolds. Given I am out of Australia, I don't have the current or recent experiences to contribute, but I still follow the Oz loyalty in's and out's regardless

What former countries/enclaves have you visited?

Yeah add me to the Hutt River Province. I met Sir Leonard (?) as a child when my parents stopped there on the way north one year. Got the HRP passport and stamps lol

    Window shades

Highly unlikely you were going to get thrown off the flight......and exactly what happened that made you say you were "abused by other passengers"? Tricky one. Best to stay calm and polite and explain you wanted to watch the scenery in this situation.

    KUL Lounge? [SG/sapphire lounge options]

Yup, respect. That bar is awesome. And a totally different experience from the 'dry' domestic Golden lounge. I've been lucky enough that most of my international to domestic transits through that terminal have been around 2 hours + in duration. Have made good use of the regional Golden Lounge in...

Wanting some help [Taking KK Donuts on Domestic Flight]

Yes, that was most definitely me. Respect to you Sir, for your Krispy Kreme protection abilities while boarding. K-R-I-S-P-Y K-R-E-M-E MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

    KUL Lounge? [SG/sapphire lounge options]

In this situation, I usually go to the regional Golden Lounge on the main terminal for a while before I do the immigration clearance. Better meals, showers and full bar. And it's only 2 minutes walk down to transit immigration, which itself is then right next to the domestic pier.

Bags checked through 3K KUL to SIN, QF SIN to MEL

Yup can second this, if it can't be sorted in KUL at KLIA2. Transfer desk in any SIN terminal will assist, takes only a few minutes while they call down to baggage with the tag numbers and get your luggage intercepted.

Wanting some help [Taking KK Donuts on Domestic Flight]

All good to take on board in Oz int-domestic transit. Beware of fellow AFF'ers sniffing them out on board. We just got our first Krispy Kreme in Yangon, Myanmar recently. Until then, it was a regular sight to see pax on Bangkok to Yangon flights bringing huge amounts of them hahaha. Whenever...

    KUL Lounge? [SG/sapphire lounge options]

Yup, agree with @trippin_the_rift Golden Lounge in Satellite terminal is the go. Decent food, good coffee made on request, plenty of seating (if its full in the main area, head forward on the left side, there are other hidden rooms down the back) Keep an eye on departure boards, no boarding...

    Geoffrey Thomas' "conversation"

Okay, so "conversation" as a word might not have been the best use. I still respect Geoff Thomas as an aviation writer. Guessing this is simply a marketing/placement strategy SEO-wise

Myanmar - where to fly into, and where to go/what to see?

Can confirm now, Circle Line is out for the time being. I just watched an interesting Trip Report video in Youtube posted by a Canadian chap, well worth a look I will update on the Circle Line, most likely in a new thread - when I have more info

Myanmar - where to fly into, and where to go/what to see?

Some good advice above... Enjoyed reading RooFlyer's and DrRon's TR's, hadn't come across them before from memory. Long term Myanmar resident here -20 years on and off. 2 weeks in November is a good stretch. A week is too short, a month in one hit is too long. Yangon is the best option to fly...

Myanmar to start new Visa on Arrival for Aus passport holders this year

Agreed on the above. It is of course still quicker on arrival if you have the e-visa in hand - straight to the passport counter, instead of going to the separate VoA window under the current system. Having said that, its possible that for those few passport holders, there may be no need to do...

Myanmar to start new Visa on Arrival for Aus passport holders this year

(mods please move if this is in the wrong location, cheers) The Myanmar Tourist & Business visa online process has been in place for a few years now, and has worked well - but it still meant that the Visa needed to be pre-approved, and documentation presented for check in staff before the last...

There Is No Harm In Asking [BA delays and baggage challenges]

This part made me cringe. The sentence would have worked just fine if you'd just said "turned around and spoke to her boss".

    Historic Maylands Aerodrome, Perth

Many thanks for this thread and especially the detailed photos. I grew up in Perth, but never made it to the Maylands Aerodrome site before and I have not been back to Australia in many years. It was great to read all of the info on each of the plaques!

Pen on 2nd page of passport

Had the same issue before, also bio page. As it was just normal biro/pen ink on a plastic-type laminate, a bit of saliva on my finger on gentle rubbing, and GONE! (note: YMMV, it could be that my saliva simply contains magical properties unknown to civilisation)

    Changi Transfer

Hi @Himeno - for me, via transfer desk inside Changi, sent from the main transfer desk near my arrival gate, down to the actual onward airline counter in a different part of the terminal. Not at departure airport
