    Unspoken Rule of Air Travel

Like many of us, I have a few... 1. The space between the seats in front of you isn't a foot rest. The last thing I want is someone's smelly feet poking through my armrest. 2. The gentleman on my flight last week, you said you are a regular flyer so you should have the aisle seat instead of...

    Brisbane fine dining

Just to mix things up a bit, I'd say forget about Brisbane and head down to coast to Absynthe. Some of the best food and service in Brisbane is somewhat unavailable to the public - The Qld Rugby Club. Unfortunately you have to be a member to dine there.

There was no mention or evidence of a free breakfast or a coughtail hour.

CP Newcastle Booked: Standard room Received: Upgrade to the Executive Floor and welcome letter. I say upgrade, but the room are the same as every other floor, the only difference is a sign that says "Executive Floor". I didn't see anything special that made this an upgrade. I could be missing...

Avis GPS - no mounting bracket

I rented a car through Avis for the first time in many years so I'm not sure if this is strange - Hertz certainly don't do this. What I found strange was that they don't provide the suction cup mounting bracket for their GPS units. I don't know whether this is just a Brisbane thing though...

    Adelaide Hotel - 1-5 March 2010

Hi everyone, Does anyone have any recommendations for hotels close to Adelaide CBD? Everything decent seems to be booked for the first week of March (mon to fri). Seems like there's something going on that week and all of South Australia is heading to the city... The only options I'm...

    Company travel expense reporting

Does anyone else have the same approval problems that I have? Midday today is expense cut-off for the payment run. I've got a month or so of expenses to claim and no manager here today to approve the claims! I missed the run at the start of the month because I was either travelling or on leave...

    The totally off-topic thread

Re: A shameless plug Seeing you're doing a 5km run and a 200m swim you may as well do a 15km bike ride. AFF Triathlon anyone?

    Company travel expense reporting

I'm in the same boat as a lot of others here. A typical expense claim will take me between 15-30 mins. We use an intranet app and have to create a claim for each trip. We then enter in each receipt and even have to break down accommodation into itemised days/nights. Cost centres / account codes...

    RAAF Readies for Super Hornet

Good luck getting congress to change their minds about exporting the F-22. We'll just have to wait for the JSF.

Do you get sick of flying and travel?

I'm currently sick of it but mainly because of my employer. They have a "travel during your time" policy, a corporate attitude that travel is a privilege, penny pinching such as staying in motor inns or 3 star hotels, best fare of the day.... and the list goes on. I tend to have too many days...

    What have you forgotten?

My trousers. Not quite as interesting as it sounds though. I was traveling on Sunday night for a Monday meeting, so naturally I was dressed quite casually. It was late on Sunday night by the time I realised I forgot to pack them, which meant I had to go to my meeting in jeans. Not a good look...

Do you live near an airport?

This is sad for me to admit, but we bought our current house because of the location to the airport. No aircraft noise here which is great seeing we're so close. 15 min drive to the airport (5 mins to the start of Airport Drive), short walk to train station on the Airtrain line, close to the...

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

The renovated rooms at HI Townsville are much better than the 1980's era wicker furniture and peach coloured tiles they used to be! I just wish they'd do something about the roof top pool. Even in winter it's too hot to swim in.

    QF97 BNE-HKG to become red-eye

Catching a red-eye and going straight into the office / meetings isn't fun at all. The company I work for not only has an economy travel policy but a "travel out of office hours" policy.

    AFF iTunes Playlist

That was one of our bridal waltz songs at our wedding. Only my close family and friends understood the meaning of that song for us. It's still on my regular playlist as a song I listen to when I'm feeling a little homesick.

    The totally off-topic thread

Speaking of weather, I sure hope that the possible cyclone in North Qld doesn't form and stick around. I've got a much needed short 5 day holiday there from Sat.

    IHG Hotels that recognise status

In the middle of another 4 night stay at the CP Darling Harbour. Again no recognition - not even a welcome letter. No invite to the PC drinks so I'm guessing that they have stopped it. I probably won't stay here again. These two stays were a second chance for this hotel. Last time I stayed...

I think the drinks nights are fairly common in Aus. I've also been to PC drinks nights at HI Darwin, CP Darwin and CP Canberra. They're also all on Tuesday nights between 6-7.
