Things must be in the eye of the beholder, but I see very little 'Boeing Bashing' or blaming Boeing compared to other commentary. But they were the manufacturer, and can't be ruled out yet. Just about everything is still on the table.

Sort of - but in the documentation they are at pains to explain that it is not insurance. But I guess, for legal reasons, they need to distance themselves from it being insurance.

Haven't used it, but I did notice that the 80% back option was significantly cheaper than the 100% option (like about half the price)

They'll be used for growth and renewal. Qantas have said they will use some of the aircraft to replace those currently being leased. So, won't be growing by 13.
