Foreign hotel bookings: who carries the currency risk?

I had an interesting experience which made me wonder how this works, and which businesses get screwed or benefit from currency movements. The $A has crashed about 20% since I booked my travel to the US. First: flight bookings through US travel website. I cancelled my trip and received a refund...

    Another QF catering fail

True, but Kosher gelatin isn't going to make the ice-cream Kosher. Under Halal I think it's ok. Anyway, I'm vegetarian like the OP and always hunt for gelatin-free yoghurt & dairy. A number of times I've been offered a sample or dish to be told "But it's Halal / Kosher gelatin!" Not the point...

Three Days in LAX and I need 645 status credits to retain Platinum, any suggestions?

Re: Three Days in LAX and I need 645 status credits to retain Platinum, any suggestio Settle for the soft landing back to SG which gives you lounge & business check-in, save your money for a WP run next year. To value WP so highly you are obviously planning to do a lot of travel next year anyway.

    Dubai Connect

That looks exactly like the room I had at the Copthorne for Dubai Connect. The hotel was fine for a few hours' relaxation & shower, but the long walk to where all the buses should have been made it something I wouldn't opt for again.

Why is Domestic J so damned expensive????

Yep, experienced this first-hand. Luckily PRG-MUC is a short trip on Lufthansa. It was an op-up, got excited for about three minutes between counter and plane :-)

    Mel-lax oct/nov rt from $444 us qantas

Curious where you got this information, as the fares were available through at least four reputable online Travel Agents. I've already paid for my exit-row seat, so will be keen to see how everything gets cleanly reversed if it does.

    Mel-lax oct/nov rt from $444 us qantas

Just got a September booking MEL-SYD-LAX-MEL for $US574. Was planning to make this booking last week to get in before EOFY, glad I waited and saved 50% instead! Through Qantas website there is nothing below $A1690 around those dates. Could also get PE for $US1600 or so on the same dates, but J...

    Old Booking still in MMB?

I had this once for LHR-MEL. Received the points & SC for flying but the itinerary stayed there for nine months with a new expiry date. The really sneaky thing was that I'd grabbed a points upgrade to PE and those points were never removed, even when the later date passed :-)

Can I also suggest that unsuccessful bids would be just as useful for data purposes ...

    Gold classic award request...

Re: Gold upgrade request... Along the same lines (and not trying to hijack this thread), is it possible for high-status QFFs to request a points upgrade for an international flight where it is not normally available? Many sale fares are not upgradeable, but from time to time I'll get an email...

Points Upgrade Confirmation - E-Mail instead of SMS

I had an upgrade confirmed by email & SMS two weeks ago, but yesterday's I received no notification about. Not only that, but when I checked at about T-20 I noticed the upgrade, with no allocated seat and an error when I tried to choose one. Meanwhile my mobile app was showing seat 2A. Both...

    Qantas FF membership year

I've had the experience of a flight scheduled to leave around 2300 April 30th, delayed until about 0050 takeoff, but still credited in the previous year a few days later. The SCs never even had a chance to be useful ... :(

EK upgrade "Love" on QF / EK coded flights - success rate?

Re: Feeling the Emirates Love!!! Upgraded in the Emirates Lounge last night travelling on QF codeshare MEL-DXB-FRA. Second leg also upgraded! Thankyou EK, I'd nearly forgotten how good your A380 J is. This was from a QF sale fare, and I'm pretty sure Emirates did not have my EK Silver (ex-Gold)...

    Should QF9 be re-routed

On one transit through Dubai I accidentally took a wrong turn towards exiting the airport, realised at the last moment, took an elevator and found myself in a magical security screening section with virtually no-one else around. Now if only I could repeat that on purpose ...

Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Re: Sucessful ASA Bookings booked at classic rates Reference Guide Bonus! Nice work. Unfortunately (or fortunately) my options in June school hols were a single flight via Sydney to get there and a single seat to get back.

Has anyone had success with the call-up "Marginal" xASA's?

Wow, that was hard work! I wanted a return flight MEL-Darwin in June for work and saw availability in Classic Award Business. Wrote down flights etc and roughly what numbers to expect. Onto the phone for my first time ... First call: Answered straight away, forgotten the name sorry. "You can do...
