AU to NYC via LAX Question

All we heard was "for personal reasons". When they couldn't be convinced to change their minds, it was a long process to extract their luggage from the hold.

AU to NYC via LAX Question

Immigration is not too bad, especially if your flight arrives on time. I flew MEL-LAX-JFK two days ago (6-Sep) and our flight out of MEL was delayed an hour due to two checked-in pax refusing to board. In LA the luggage is separated into two carousels: one for those continuing to JFK and one for...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Suggestions for SC maximisation on US sectors Or even DCA-LGA-DFW-MSY which seems to price well on AA for extra SCs.

    Flying AA as QF FF

We're talking about the reverse here: QF aircraft with an AA flight number trans-Pacific.

    Flying AA as QF FF

I've never seen AA quote QF flights lower than the carrier apart from trivial differences. I'll ask my own noob question: are you sure you're seeing $Aus for both, not $US? For the other part of your question, QF Gold / OneWorld Sapphire does get you extra luggage allowances on AA.

Overview of Best Qantas Status Run Options [not the discussion thread]

A note for those researching a US Status Run for the first time (like I did last week): there are common themes that make it easier. Qantas gives 120SC for F between New York/Boston and Dallas, so that's a good leg to have in there. You can tack a extra leg onto the NY end for 30 virtually free...

For those who have been comped status

Was not expecting a visit from the comp fairy, but there she is today with a third year of Gold! Last three years I've earned something like 1100, 700, 200 so I would barely qualify on average and I won't even have flown the four QF segments this year. Thanks QFFCF!

    USA Status run

I should also point out the OP was asking about an idea with a clear security violation that would get them into a lot of legal trouble. I mentioned my experience that did not require someone to fly in my stead. I did not recommend it as a practice. QFF only asked for a boarding pass & a ticket...

    USA Status run

Not boasting, commenting. The flight was paid for, where is the fraud? T&C violation at worst, which would mean no points. On a US airline? I guess it's possible. Now I do feel bad.

    USA Status run

Last year I had a non-refundable F flight, AA SFO-SEA but had to cancel my US trip altogether. Just for fun I downloaded the boarding pass and tried to claim it from QFF. Successful, even though I was on an Aus domestic flight on the same day. 40SC without even being in the country for the...

Points not deducted for seat selection

I got lucky with points failing to deduct a couple of years ago --- not seat selection but thought it was relevant. Flight from London back to Aus, requested J using points but only got Premium Economy. Noticed a few days after flying that the booking was still on my list and the points had not...

Confused by Classic Reward to/from UK

The second question was about open jaw UK itineraries, i.e. in via LHR out via MAN. Qantas allows you to book a ticket at return prices (about the same as MEL-LHR-MEL or MEL-MAN-MEL). It also allows you to combine MEL-LHR Saver fare with LHR-MEL Classic Reward or vice-versa using the "return"...

Confused by Classic Reward to/from UK

While I appreciate the advice Fred, it seems a bit like the Irish joke with the punchline "well I wouldn't start from here". In practical terms, how do you save money when you have commitments in London then the Manchester region? A ferry into Dublin or a discount flight from an English regional...

Confused by Classic Reward to/from UK

I've heard of Heathrow being expensive, but the fees would also be $1,084 ex-Manchester, i.e. MAN-DXB-MEL in F. Seems extraordinarily high.

Confused by Classic Reward to/from UK

Main confusion: Classic Reward one-way MEL-LHR in First is 192,000 points plus $618.72; one-way LHR-MEL is First is 192,000 points plus £552.36 (about $1,100 or nearly double the fees!). What explains the huge discrepancy? BTW, MEL-LHR return has fees of $1,564 which doesn't help. Second...

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options Not certain because they were booked for me in class L. Qantas table shows every DragonAir class at Economy or higher. Skyscanner finds $150 return to Fuzhou for instance, which I thought includes fees but I'm new to that part of the world.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

re: Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options Work is sending me to a few places in China. Surprised about the high SC earn on DragonAir, not that I would recommend hopping in and out of China for a status run! Cities within 90 minutes of HKG including Xiamen and Fuzhou can cost as little as...
