Can we have a quickie to SIN with just HCO ?? [HLO]

I do this fairly regularly, and being SIN only, makes it even easier. Think: . A very lightweight pull-along bag. So many HCO weight 4kg but mine is just over 1kg. It's old enough to vote, and has never given up the ghost. Wish I could find another one. Antler seems to be the best nowdays, but...

    Delayed baggage bad experience

+1 other comments. It's the main reason that my carry on always has enough for 2 days at the other end in the (unlikely) event luggage doesn't make it with me. Needs a light case and careful packing to get under the 7kg weight limit.

    NBN Discussion

Currently, in most small business, the first line coming in has power supplied to it via Telstra. Provided the business / householder has an older type phone that takes it power from the phone line, then a phone connection is always available. When teaching out western NSW, it was (and still...

Treatment of LOTE pax by Domestic Crew

I've flown a few times CNS-SYD and BNE-SYD with Chinese tour groups, and have found them rather DYKWIA. One trip in particular sticks in my mind. We were coming into land, and lady sitting across aisle from me did not have seat belt on and had large handbag on lap. Hostie politely request that...

    Hula hoop as carry on?

I'd put in booked luggage. You're not going to need it on board so don't tempt fate.

    Medicines kit

Paracetemol is called Acetaminophen in USA (and, I think Canada). Apparently, it is one of the few drugs that has 2 generic names. This was mentioned in the middle of an earlier post, but thought I would make it clear. Travelling in US last year, I injured my back. Used up all the...

    Glad I'm a Qantas boy...

You can never tell. Last year, flying Boise - LAX - SYD, on 2 PNRs (first with AA, 2nd with WF), the guy at the check in desk did everything he could to get my bag checked all the way through to SYD. After what seemed 10 minutes, he achieved it, which saved me having to collect the bag in LAX...

30 SCs required to get silver; is it worth it?

I agree with the others. Definitely worth getting to silver. The next thing you know, you'll be aiming for gold (as I did).

Sydney Tokyo QF Y or Jetstar J

Thanks everyone for your assistance. I decided to go the QF Y on sale for $999, and shouted myself 2 exit row seats. Not that I'm tall, but it means that no-one can lean so far back into me that I can't get out (bad memories of my Y+ flight DFW-SYD last year).

Sydney Tokyo QF Y or Jetstar J

Thanks everyone. Thinking about it, I've realised that one reason that I'm "almost thinking" about Jet* Business is that the flights are during the day, whereas QF are overnight. As noted, access to lounges isn't a concern, but travelling overnight in cattle class is. And, cattle class in...

Sydney Tokyo QF Y or Jetstar J

I'm flying SYD NAR about 16 April returning about 30 April and have 2 choices: Qantas Y $999 - sale price Jetstar J $2762 - with all the add ins (I do like to eat, will have booked luggage and will get SC and points). Having read the Jetstar disaster stories, I'm inclined to go with what I...

Seating on QF's direct SYD-DFW route

Yes, the flight is in "sleep mode" until about an hour (maybe a bit more) out of DFW. It's quite a shock when they open the shades and you see full daylight outside.

PED's on/off during various flight stages - Why?

Today, on QF533 BNE-SYD, the CSM went through the spiel twice (due to a delay in push back). Each time, she specifically said that a number of items had to be turned off. Forget the full list, but "all ebook readers, including Kindles" specifically mentioned. First time I've heard the...

    Qantas Customer Service

I often fly J, both LH and SH so know what the "J experience" is. However, if in the OPs situation, then I would have been quite happy with the result, especially as QF had to get the plane into the air so quickly. My friends said that they had settled into their hotel (provided at QFs expense)...

    Qantas Customer Service

What do you want from them? You had the J seat, so the full "J experience" except for the food that they couldn't serve. However, they gave you a $50 voucher so you could buy the food in LAX. On what basis should they refund the 45,000 points given that you had the J seat + a voucher? Three...

DFW B747 change PE to Y

One of the improvements that QF could do is to show "available seats" prior to confirming the booking. AA do this, it's on Expert Flyer, so why can't it be on the QF website? However, they won't do it (unless pushed by AFF's). Was this improvement was ever brought up at the day when QF invited...

    British Airways buys BMI

Heard about this on the very early news. British Airways owner IAG seals deal to buy BMI for £172.5m - Telegraph And Virgin isn't happy. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2077543/Virgin-furious-British-Airways-owner-buys-BMI-giving-lions-share-Heathrow-spots.html Forbes' comments...

best Y seats on the 747-4 class

SeatGuru says the 40 D/E/F/G have limited recline. Do others find this? I'm short, so legroom isn't an issue with me, but I would like as full as possible recline.

    Premium Economy. Why?

Thanks Serfty. I signed up this afternoon with free subscription. How accurate are the seat maps? For example, if I can see a particular seat on say SYD-LHR, then go straight into QF to book what are my chances that that seat is still available?

As a traveller, what does breakfast mean for you?

Must have protein in it (gets the blood sugar up). If I have enough protein (+ carbs etc) then I can pretty much go the whole day without worrying about lunch. If no protein, then I'm tired and starving by 10.30am. When teaching, I always had a full breakfast (cereal, eggs, toast, fruit), as...
