What's the best cabin bag to purchase?

+1 for Samsonite. We have a few and they stand up well to pretty constant use. I like 2 wheel in the smaller bags.

Are QF Dash-8s really this good?

The bus trip and taxi to take off regularly takes as long as the flight to PQQ :) TBH the regular bumping of the taxi and the drone of the engines puts me to sleep even before take off.

Are QF Dash-8s really this good?

The are noisy and the seats are narrow. They can be bumpy but they are quick to get on and off and they fly lower so there is often a great view.

The 6:30am BNE-SYD is gone and I am not on it [No ESTA]

Re: BNE-SYD-LAX-BNE VA Y US$266 on Orbitz [gone] I always write a reminder to get my ESTA on my thongs. You should consider that for next time.

I have a similar plan as I'm unlikely to be able to afford Waiheke Island

    Port Macquarie May 20-22.

As a Port Macquarieite welcome Mrs drron and drron. Hope you enjoy your visit. Don't know how well you know the place but can I recommend Fusion 7 for dinner if you have the chance. We also have a very good Japanese restaurant called Sushiko. It has been closed for a couple of weeks due to a...

VA announce Q3 loss and Regional market restructure

I would have thought people living longer and having fewer children on average would have increased demand. Isn't the number of people flying increasing every year?

    Smart Casual ??

John you are most certainly entitled to an opinion. But it is just that. I have a different one. What other people wear in a social situation is their business. I also have an opinion that It's a remarkably small step from thongs to other items of clothing and situations. You are bolder than me...

    Smart Casual ??

It may be more correct in the southern states but I don't know if our little brothers/sisters across the dutch would agree with it being uniquely Aussie. :) When we were in campervanning in nz for the 2011 rwc, I may have been wearing thongs with socks more than is polite in Australian society...

    Smart Casual ??

That's probably the peak of the thong technology. Very hard to see field turf ever being brought to the thong world.

    Smart Casual ??

I did go through a surfer Joe phase but have always come back to the cheap black and white rubberised. I do like to keep at least one "good" pair though

    Smart Casual ??

Fwiw and imnsho I've never seen any consistent correlation between what people wear and their manners or behaviour. Everyone is entitled to make there own choices but I can't support the wearing of fancy thongs (I.e. Havianas). Black and white are the original and the best.

There is a view/change seat button in the top right hand corner of the boarding pass screen. Click on view boarding pass after checking in to get there.

    Qantas Android App arrives

Obviously still buggy. Checked in yesterday for a flight today. Multiple boarding passes (3 people) came up fine. Today all I get is a grey screen where they should be. I tend to use my card mostly anyway for BP.

    Barossa Trip Recommendations

Tscharkes is one of my favourites. Great story, building, good value and excellent wines. It's near Seppeltsfield if you like the fortifieds. Taste of Eden in Angaston is a good option to provide some variety. There is a good dried fruit place called Gully gardens just outside Angaston as well.

Carlson hotels to be taken over by Chinese

I've had an eye on the flyertalk thread on this as I stay at the Australian radissons regularly. They are retaining the current ceo and have committed to keep the head office in Minnesota. It'll be interesting to see if the Fargo reference retains its humour.

    The new Qantas Pilot Uniform

When I see people still wearing clothing from the early noughties I normally jump to the conclusion they are either a long serving public servant or a dot com billionaire. Either way I don't want them at the controls of any plane I am in. Good move I say.

    To unpack or not unpack...

Hang the things I'm going to wear. Toiletries bag goes in the bathroom. Shoes on the floor under the bag rack (if there is one). Everything apart from the hung up clothes goes back in the bag or in one spot in the room every morning before leaving. I like to make it easy for the room staff as I...
