I've gotten points through the usual online bookings. Though, it seems that they're may be inconsistencies (which I've realised after the fact but not bothered to chase).

You need QF marketed flights. This gives you also codeshares on other carriers. Though, purchasing tickets originating elsewhere would be a challenge.

Wouldn't the most significant carrier (MSC) rule apply? In this case, QF would be the one crossing the region boundaries, therefore their limits apply. Cathay had a good explanation of it. Yours would be the point 2 on their list...

Back to an old question: how do you spend your points away? Every time I'm checking options with Hertz (using web or their app) for different locations, the payment page tells that the reward booking option is unavailable for this booking. I'd like to burn away the points but how?

If we venture to "near the core of the CBD", Milsons Point has some decent eateries, too. I'd be open to anything along the train / metro lines inside Strathfield - Epping - Chatswood - Sydenham. The closer to the stations, the better.
