Qantas surveying members about spend-based status attainment

Moving to a spend-based status would simplify the calculation of how many SC's you'll be getting - though only when you know the price of the ticket. And might be confusing when you have various connections (e.g. QF - CX - JL flights). I'd see the current SC table a pretty useful model: it's...

Worst Domestic Qantas Lounges & What Can be Done About It?

Sparkling at the BNEd J lounge. You won't miss out on anything worthwhile if you skip this. While I wouldn't expect champagne, this could rather belong in a ZL lounge.

Sydney T3 Security Checkpoint - lost property

Welcome to AFF, Kerryww! T3 has the lost&found counter near the baggage claims. I've left stuff behind the same way and got it back from there next time I passed through. Hopefully your keys are there, too, waiting for your return.

5 status credits short for platinum renewal... any chance of Qantas 'gifting' those?

How about 5 SC? Though, best done while already roaming around. 😉

Qantas Status based Lounge Access before Fiji Airways Flights

At the end of the day, the rule is pretty straightforward: you are flying on a non-OW coded flight. It'd be similar than you rocked up with an LH ticket to ask for lounge access. To QF, it makes zero difference who sold the ticket or how you paid for it. The fact that different payment options...

Cash or Card? Countries where you still need cash.

For those interested. The early part of the article talks about countries, the rest is more about the role of cash as a reserve. https://www.euronews.com/next/2024/11/26/which-countries-in-europe-are-heading-toward-becoming-cashless-societies

The Qantas Status Run Master Thread

Has anyone worked out some lucrative status runs based on the current int'l sales? Checking the usual suspect, OOL-xMEL-CHC return and similar, came to about $3.25/SC using DSC (500SC for $1,6xx). What other good options there would be for those who want to make an extra holiday out of this?

Article: Beginner’s Guide to Collecting Qantas Points

Mission completed. First I tried on my phone and ended up with the same error. But my work laptop was all good and we now have the 11 millionth 999th member in QFF. It probably came down to the browsing protections on the laptop. My personal laptop & phone have the same internet security & VPN...

Article: Beginner’s Guide to Collecting Qantas Points

I've tried Firefox normal and private windows and Chrome normal window on my laptop. I wonder how the ad-blocker would impact, though? Perhaps I need to strip down some protections on the browser and try again that way.

Article: Beginner’s Guide to Collecting Qantas Points

Has anyone had recent success with joining QFF using one of the links mentioned in the article? This is now the third day it fails with the same generic error. I've tried a few different codes / links with the same result. Would make life a tiny bit easier if I could join my partner to the...

Uber cancellation request from Driver; is this the norm?

I've had cancellations before the ride. Usually during busy times when it first takes time to find a driver. Then they cancel on you. You submit a new request, only for the next driver cancelling, too. Lousy!

Sydney Airport announces overhaul for T2 Domestic

I'm in the same boat, buying small forgotten items or if I've run out. Eg. charging cables, pain killers, etc. I used to buy books back in time because I found the bookshops in terminals often had some interesting stuff. These days it's audio/ebooks in my pocket, though.

SYD Meetup - Wednesday 20th November 2024 @ Long Chim

I've taken CJ's table. Two takes are next to each other, this one separately by the window. Light blue patterned shirt & bright yellow backpack are my giveaways.

I'll come straight to the dinner but probably a little early. I need to leave by 8:30 so want to get a headstart.

SYD Meetup - Wednesday 20th November 2024 @ Long Chim

A smart operator there. Would one big table force us to the set menus? As much as possible, I'd love us to stay on the regular table menu for individual orders. BTW, what was the start time again? When do we board?

Lyf Collingwood Melbourne - 3-star crash pad

I ended up booking via Wotif which was cheaper than directly. I usually go direct and it's been ages since I used an online aggregator. Because it was a pretty late booking, I paid $207 but their rooms start from $140. For $140, you get decent value for money but $200+ starts to stretch it and...

Lyf Collingwood Melbourne - 3-star crash pad

Last weekend I tested a new, simple place to stay in Melbourne: Lyf Collingwood Melbourne. It's a part of Ascott Limited which has multiple brands globally, best known in Australia would be Quest Serviced Apartments. I stayed for one night only in their 'One of a Kind Plus' room. It's a very...

Hopefully we can make it work so that everyone orders directly. Removes the payment problem.
