Best 'J' seats on an A330

Really not a whole lot in it. There is a slight difference if you are in an A330-200 or A330-300. The 200 has J split into two mini sections of 3 rows each. I think it comes down to do you want to away from the toilets or the galley. I generally go for 1A.

    Airports that resemble purgatory

I think it is probably more to do with that time of night. Even Singapore can get very quiet and boring after midnight.

Discussion/Q&A on Best QF Status Run Options

Re: Best Status Run Options - Questions and General Discussion There used to be TSV-BNE-MEL-HKG but since the MEL-HKG flight changed times that doesn't seem to show up. PER-SYD-CGK used to be good as well, but the cost in points seems to have gone up.

    Sydney to New York

Also something minor to consider you get more status credits going with the second and third options.

    Bangkok - First Lounge

My understanding and from what others have reported in this thread was that it was only the first class lounge that was closed at the time of the QF24 departure and but the business class lounge was open for the QF departure.

    Bangkok - First Lounge

My understanding is yes. Qantas passengers with gold or higher status get access to the EK lounge at BKK if they are flying on QF or EK. Qantas club passengers will only get access to the Qantas lounge. QF Gold or higher passengers on Jetstar will only get access to the Qantas lounge.

QF A330 300 Best Economy seats

For a daytime flight I usually for 23A and put up with the restricted leg room. For a overnight flight I'll go with 24A for the extra leg room.

    Bangkok - First Lounge

I guess as BA only have a departure at 12:20am then the first lounge would not be open in time for the Qantas Sydney departure. Of course QF WP now has access to the Emirates lounge at BKK when travelling on QF or EK. Which has much better food. As before they also have access to any other...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

It was booked directly with the website. Was a MH Smart fare. Which it is as far as MH fare families goes it is 2nd most flexible out of the 4 economy fare classes.

I am not sure if you are aware of it or not. But that flight has a one and half hour stop in KL on the way to Dubai.

    Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

I got in as a WP under what I assume were the new QF-EK status lounge access rules that just came into effect, rather then the Singapore specific arrangements while lounge is being refurbished. I also assume QF SG flying on QF or EK would get access to the EK lounge as well.

    Singapore QF/BA lounge new changes

Yesterday I got into the Singapore Emirates lounge travelling on a economy QF flight number on an EK flight as a QF WP. I checked in ok. It was the first Qantas WP card the woman had seen so she showed it around to the other Emirates staff. They seem to be pretty up to speed on the new changes...

    The Operational Upgrade Thread

I got an opup yesterday flying from KUL-SIN on MH with my QFF number loaded against the flight. Was beeped at the gate and "gate note loaded" flashed up on the scanner display. He spoke to the woman at the gate desk and it turned out to be an opup to 1D. They didn't even issue a new BP, the guy...

    Cheap flights to anywhere

Normally it includes taxes everything that is bare minimum. But none of the extras like meals and baggage. Sometimes the fares can get out of date. It looks like for some airlines they get a dump of fares at a particular time, but it does display when the fare was last checked. There is a...

    Qf19 & qf20

At MNL Qantas has one business class and one Qantas Club check in lanes. From what I recall there is no express lane for business class for departure tax, immigration or security. I think there is an express lane for APAC business travel cards and diplomats. Some taxis can be a bit hit and...

The aisle seat - is it really that good?

Window seat for me. I don't usually get up during a short flight (anything less than 8 hours). Just go to the toilet before departure and after landing if need be. I like to look out the window and take photos. Also as others have mentioned it is good to rest against the airplane wall. I have...

Could other businesses offer a Chairman's Lounge?

Many large companies have corporate boxes at sports stadiums. Which I guess are similar in concept. Often representatives from those companies who have the boxes invite their top customers to attend various events. Different customers are governed by different rules about what they gifts they...

    Boarding times for Trans-Tasman flights

I flew BNE-AKL and return about a week ago. The scheduled boarding time I believe was about 40 to 45 minutes before scheduled departure. However the actual boarding time was closer to 25 to 30 minutes before departure. For the return the flight the crew didn't even show up until 35 minutes...

Airbus wins record $23.1 billion Indonesian order

My understanding is they are getting very favourable finance terms. Which they also got with the boeings. I have flown on Lion Air a few times. Was interesting to fly on the 737-900ER. The plane seemed to land and take off at a noticeably faster speed than the other 737s I have been in. The...
