The whole point of the last 3 months has presumably been it was too easy to get status and costing the airline too much. The elimination of double status credits would seem an obvious solution to that issue.

Yep, I had major issues with Expedia customer service 3 years ago, trying to sort frequent flyer points issue out on an AA flight for QF points. Limited to no help at all.

I guess the question for Qantas is will they save the $1m+ for lounge and other status benefits... and how much will it hit the other revenue lines if those customers move their business elsewhere. I've only flown 2 status runs, with all my other MASA's being flights I needed to take anyway...

Booked my final JASA last night. SYD-ADL this Saturday to re-qualify my gold before 30 June refresh date. Still have one more to fly from LAX-SYD in May next year. Hopefully with some work flights, I'll retain gold next year with that flight :).

I've noticed the same thing looking at SYD-HNL-LIH-HNL-LAX It seems to turn in AA's favor about 8 months before the flight. I assume it makes upgrades extremely difficult. The base fare is about $400 cheaper but the surcharge is about $200 more so if you want to use points, would appear cheaper...

This only affects those without a stopover though. Basically stopping you from lounging in the airport it seems.
