Renew passport - Does remaining Validity carry forward?

It's a great rort driven by various nations' immigration rules. Sorry - must have at least 6 months validity left on passport to come in. REALLY? Is my passport valid or not? Cos it says it expires 6 months from now, but Immigration says I can't come in. It's a joke. The old " Buy 5 and get 1...

Qantas AMEX Ultimate Card - 100,000 Bonus Points (new as 30/1/18)

Signed up and approved yesterday. This will probably be a keeper for me now that the RBA has effectively killed the bank issued AMEX. At least until a better one comes along. The 100000 points even if you've previously held a bank issued AMEX was a winner for me.

    QF Gift Voucher/Credit Voucher

I'm looking to get a couple of Vouchers for myself but I'm seeing conflicting terminology on the QF website. The terms Gift Voucher and Credit voucher are both used - are these one and the same? Because I can only see where to buy gift vouchers. Assuming they are the same then I just buy Gift...

You know you are a frequent flyer when ...

So do I - And was wondering if there's a new Emerald coloured One world card that I'd missed out on. And while I'm on "similar coloured cards" - The new Qantas Premier MasterCard is very similar in colour to the QFF Plat card - trap for young punters is that one!!

    PER-BNE/BNE-PER A330 Reductions

Not good. My once a month flight BNE-PER is on 589, and it's usually pretty full. Might have to write a little letter to QF, not the first time they've made a mistake in their advertised scheduling/aircraft type when reverting back to normal time from Summer time, or vice versa for that matter.

Qantas gets a poor review by Age editor

I can honestly say I've never had a bad flight on QF caused by the cabin crew. I find them generally very good. But I'm not a high maintenance kind of flyer. I guess I've just been unlucky not to have been treated poorly judging by some of the commentary here. I've had a few caused/induced by...

Finishing 2017 with more or less Points/Miles?

Less for me, burnt a few on J upgrades BNE-SIN return for me and Mrs BD. Back to the new credit card turnover for me.

Anyone else flying on Christmas Day?

Boxing Day for me, Xmas day next year. Do the Dom QPs serve alcohol on Xmas Day?

    "Loyalty"

I look at it this way; I'm flying anyway. 1 airline has no lounge at my home port. I spend lots of money on things every month. I can get credit cards that give me points on the airline that DOES have a lounge in my home port ( And with the other lot to be fair ) I fly 90% domestic. So - I fly...

The night the bogans visited the F lounge

My point being that the employer can sometimes choose to not buy airline tickets, or not send the employee. When you, as an individual, are paying then the airline relies on your largesse and therefore I would suggest that people paying for their own status are probably the most loyal as...

The night the bogans visited the F lounge

Zulu0929, I'd suggest that the most loyal frequent flyers are the ones who actually pay out of their own pocket. After all, not much influence if your employer's paying.

    Perth - Singapore

I actually prefer the exits, not a big fan of the armrest tables. I'm not a recliner either.

    Perth - Singapore

Row 4 isn't a certainty unless you're P1. An exit row is provided you stump up the cash and you're early enough.

    OH&S gone mad

Plenty of subsequent posts in this thread proving Legoman's statement ;) I've spent 35 years in the mining industry in processing plants of all shapes and sizes. I've seen 2 things really expand exponentially in that time. 1. Safety Johnnies 2. Massive manipulation of safety statistics by 1. to...

    Perth - Singapore

If you really have to then go exit row aisle. Don't get me wrong, I fly in them once a fortnight minimum, but only for 90 minutes. They're just not a good plane for longer flights for a variety of reasons IMO.

    2017/8 Cricket, Ashes, etc.

I'll be in Adelaide for the last 4 days. Have tickets for Day 2, 3 and will probably do a walk up after that. First time ever in Adelaide, somehow have just never got there!!

    Perth - Singapore

Your tolerance is obviously better than mine. I avoid the 737 like the plague on BNE - PER, or v/v. Travelling for longer on one is too hideous to think of. It's probably the one situation where my rusted on loyalty to QF would vanish. There is no way in the known universe I will sit on a 737...

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Not a thing Buzzard. Merely commenting to Marki ( The post above mine that you quoted ) that my experience mirror theirs. Conversation by correspondence if you like. But, to draw a long bow, CC churning get points which get flights which can sometimes end in mistakes. Or create them.

    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Interesting you should say that. I'm a very regular Credit Card churner for the bonus points offers, the ONLY bank I've ever had dramas with has been Westpac - AND their affiliates/subsidiaries. They are the reason why I take screen shots for every CC application and T&Cs these days. I fought...
