I'm looking to get a couple of Vouchers for myself but I'm seeing conflicting terminology on the QF website.

The terms Gift Voucher and Credit voucher are both used - are these one and the same? Because I can only see where to buy gift vouchers.

Assuming they are the same then I just buy Gift vouchers and make myself the passenger?

If they're not the same then where on earth do the Credit Vouchers live so I can buy them.

Thanks in advance, BD

Credit vouchers are credit held as a voucher when you cancel a flight booking.

Buy the gift voucher(s) in your name, both from and to, you can even send yourself a nice message on the voucher

When you redeem a gift voucher to book flights you can change the passenger name

Is it also the case that gift vouchers when used mean no credit card fees? It was alluded to somewhere on the DSC thread but I wasn't sure I read it properly and if there was a minimum threshold that applied.

On a business class fare to Europe it would save $60-70 if it's how their system works.

I probably answered my own question ....Gift vouchers to offset credit card fee?

Correct, if you've found the fare you want on a straight point to point route or a one-way route then a gift voucher is the perfect way to avoid the credit card fee.

They only take a minute or so to generate the PNR which you then use as part payment for the fare. However, you cannot use a gift voucher on a multi-city fare or one originating outside of Australia.

Is it that if I buy a flight for less than the QF gc that they charge $2 to reissue? Have never not used it all at once before.
If it is a dodgy QF thing, I'll just save this voucher and pay the whole $55 on cc.

If the cost of your booking is less then the voucher value then you will be issued a new voucher for the balance only if it at least $2. There is no charge to provide a new voucher for the balance owing.

Great thanks. I had remembered reading some time ago that people were having problems.
The only problem I have experienced with the issuing of residual vouchers is that they have some tagged comment on them that prevents seeing the new voucher in Manage My Bookings and you have to call to have the comment removed.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

Just wondering if the expiry date is meant to be the book-by date or travel-by date? TIA
