    Made any travel mistakes lately?

Yes, that that goes close to Israel between Iran and Israel, and Iran is lobbing missiles into Israel from time to time.

What happens if you tick “yes” to respiratory symptoms when you check in?

In my n=1 study, I have worn masks the absolute minimum (and very poorly when forced to), and have not have covid or the flu or a bad cold for at least 10 years.

Left Qantas FF and Haven't Looked Back

Well, as soon as you get to VFF SG (which will be soon, from the sounds of it), you can enjoy the lovely (but sometimes very busy) SQ lounges including the free booze!

Left Qantas FF and Haven't Looked Back

Nice try. As a VFF, there are many excellent options to fly to London, including SQ, QR, EY, NH and UA. All offer better products than Qantas, and usually at lower prices.

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

Why do you keep flying if you hate it so much?

Qantas Customer (we don't) Care communication re cancelled award flights

Yeah, the best thing about QF status is flying other carriers!

Virgin Australia Business Class - Meals, Menus & Service

That's poor, especially for a decent length flight like OOL-MEL, I'd be punching the call button to get a couple more refills of wine post-tray clearing.

What is the best airport name you have come across

I see what you did there. In any case, the full name for WSI is Western Sydney International (Nancy-Bird Walton) Airport, and Nancy-Bird as a first name is quite cute.

Qantas Customer (we don't) Care communication re cancelled award flights

There are so many Qantas customers just "one more disappointment" away from walking. Just do it! Qantas' safety record should not be a factor because all of the top 10 or 20 airlines are extremely safe, vastly more safe than going for a drive on the Hume Highway. Qantas being minutely more...

    Visiting the Taj Mahal

Sounds like the OP had the full India experience including the scams, touts, and various detours to souvenir shops. And the amazing sights. We visited in March 2024, so I'll add my perspective if any other readers are doing their research by reading this thread. At DEL, on arrival, there is a...

Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

I'm not allergic to cat hair, so I don't know. But I suspect that there is more cat hair on a cat than on a cat person, so more chance of an allergic reaction. My sarcastic reply still stands though: an actual helpful comment might have been "make sure you pack your antihistamines," not "stay...

Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

    Helpful comment, thanks a lot.

Pets in the Cabin - Coming soon on Virgin Australia

Yeah, but pets coughping all over the carpet is a bit different to a baby doing a poo in a nappy. Plus what about if you are allergic to cat hair?

    SQ Tips, Trips and Tales

Exact same thing for me (immediate issue of the Scoot voucher), but you will have to chase them for the refund of portion of base fare. But that is only a refund of a portion of the base fare for that sector, so it won't be much. 1713139913 Don't be shy about asking for whatever you want in...

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

In my experience, VA's partner SQ has excellent coverage of Asia and usually has reward flight availability. VA SG/WPs also get very good lounge access in Australia and Asia even if flying SQ Y.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

Not sure where that came from, but clearly VA is better in terms of its FF program. It is easy to redeem points for J flights on international partners. See also the Steve Hui analysis referred to in ean earlier post.

Qantas rolls out Classic Plus Flight Rewards

And while we are all chattering about this, along comes the following for Qantas to sneak in: Qantas Raising Seat, Baggage & Lounge Fees Qantas will raise many of its service fees next week, with prices for seat selection, excess baggage and Qantas Club membership all going up.

    Unusual airport taxi/transport experiences

Squeezed into a share taxi from Kokand to Margilan (Qum Tepa Sunday Market) in 2019, about one hour trip, 15,000 som each, driver constantly answering/making calls on his phone, changing CDs, chain smoking etc. The speedo was broken - we were not really going more than 200kmh - but pretty fast...

    Superannuation Discussion + market volatility

The government does not have a revenue problem (look at a graph of its revenue over the last 15 years), it has a spending problem.
