Award Booking HEL-HND-SYD in JAL PE

Depending on the date JL51 is a 787-8 which doesn’t have premium economy seating. Pre covid it was often up-guaged to a 789 or 773 for the Australian summer/Japanese ski season. The system might be balking at booking a mixed cabin award.

Where to credit OneWorld flights now I don't need to credit to QFF?

Not yet, but on current travel patterns I will maintain WP long after I qualify for LTG. COVID aside, I’d be there already.

QF lounge Changes - New ADL Dom J, merged AKL lounges, Upgrades to ROK & PHE Lounge

I was wondering if they could use the old Qantas collection museum space as a temporary location but I think it would be way too small.

QF lounge Changes - New ADL Dom J, merged AKL lounges, Upgrades to ROK & PHE Lounge

They got the dishwasher working again in domestic J, what more do you want? (truly the most miserable lounge and the one I spend most time in)

Where to credit OneWorld flights now I don't need to credit to QFF?

Probably in the same boat as many. I was on track to easily retain my status (WP) this year, I've already got more than 500 SC to roll over. So there's no great value in crediting to Qantas for the rest of my year (feb-23) Options BA seems like the obvious one. Points are useful, other ways...

    Travel Insurance which covers COVID-19?

A quick vote of confidence in SCTI. We got COVID in Vienna and had to isolate, extending our hotel stay, incurred a few medical expenses and conference fee to refund. SCTI paid up very promptly with minimal fuss, chasing me about vaccine certificates and a missing receipt. A painless process and...

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I’ll pay the $50 back if they can find someone to move the jet bridge next to the plane in Sydney right now. We’ve been here more than 10 minutes waiting for someone to waggle the lever.

Qantas apologises to frequent flyers with status extensions, lounge passes, points & more reward seats

I wonder if the WP bonus points will be more than the points refunds I still have outstanding on classic rewards cancellations, because the $50 certainly doesn’t cover the taxes and fees.

Qatar or Emirates as QFF for Sydney - Europe Business Class?

Another other option for One World is JAL via Tokyo. An extra stop (CDG or LHR connecting to AF, BA or IB). SkySuite is a great seat the food is excellent, nice lounges in Tokyo and much cheaper than via the gulf.

    Qantas Delays/Cancellations

Anyone know why QF1975 CBR-ADL was on the ground at MQL just now?

    Qantas Business Money

I’m interested but it would have to be pretty good rates and functionality to beat Wise.

Flight delayed, missed connection and abandoned by Qantas

Mask up, or possibly invest in a space suit. I’ve just spent a delightful week quarantined at the Ritz in Vienna after testing positive the night we arrived. They are still treating covid seriously here.

Qantas to Remove Domestic Boarding Pass Printing from Kiosks

This is some great user research and the UX team at should jump at this feedback. As someone who works in UX, Human Centred Design and the like, I would jump at some unsolicited feedback like this. I hope someone is reading. Way up this thread I did a post about how the app could better use...

Headphones - time for a new pair

I have the Sony WH-1000XM4 afte having the original XM series and leaving them on a plane. Fantastic headphones and it was an easy choice to do a straight replacement. Great sound quality, good mic for using in calls, picks up my voice and not much else even in a busy rooms, although I also have...

Current Qantas First Lounge Menu (SYD/MEL) and relevant topics

In the Mel lounge and can recommend the warm beetroot and green bean salad, barramundi with red curry butter and the egg plant with peperonata and pickled zucchini.

JAL Premium Economy for transpacific flights

There’s a a lot of wide body aircraft in the JAL fleet that don’t have proper premium economy seating, all 788s and 772s. 788s get used for a lot of the west coast flights, so highly likely you’ll run into them, which is unfortunate. On the plus side the sky wider economy seat is the most...

So who wants to run their magic 8-Ball over this classic flight reward booking?

Well it did ticket so the ball was right. The Iberia site clearly had a glitch and wasn’t showing anything but it came back later. Would have maybe preferred to use avios, but it worked out.

So who wants to run their magic 8-Ball over this classic flight reward booking?

Honestly I don't know why I am even trying this. Looking for some european internal flights, GVA- BCN and QF shows classic award availability via MAD on IB that times that suit. BA, IB and Expert flyer don't show anything. But for the cost of loaning 105 CHF to Qantas (and the pain I will spend...

Buying Qantas top-up points with a bonus: Worth it?

Taxes and fees had escaped my mind but good point. Of course you have to factor in the cost downside of going via Tokyo which is stopping for a night or two and having to have a few really good dinners while you are there.

Buying Qantas top-up points with a bonus: Worth it?

My 2c. $3999 for 240,000 plus a little bit more gets you a classic flight reward to Europe and back in QF, sounds great if you can find the seats. If you need a partner award it’s quite a lot more. Booking in advance you can almost always find J seats in JAL, Finnair or ANA for around about...
