Annoying Internet plans in hotels that cap the downloads

Put the USA to one side. It would cost me say $25 a day to use the internet to check my email for 10 minutes in an Australian hotel. I can buy a yearly plan on Telstra for $120 including 12Gig (last time I checked) of usage. I don't see how market size matters (to this extent). I realise it...

    AFF Medical Meet?

More of the critical care- anaesthetic persuasion for me

    AFF Medical Meet?

A trauma conference would make sense although I probably wouldn't want to take extra time off for a conference. I could speak to a potential sponsor when the time comes around if necessary (I have one in mind, not a drug or device company).

Woolworths Qantas Credit Card Canceled letter.

Well I rang to cancel my application and was told it had been automatically declined before it got to a credit check. They can't say why. I assume because I ticked "self-employed".,,note to self I should put down my part-time salaried job as my occupation in future.

Annoying Internet plans in hotels that cap the downloads

29/day is reasonable? You have got to be joking. In the US I walked 50m down the road and bought a one-month plan for that much.

Woolworths Qantas Credit Card Canceled letter.

Exactly, I have applied for the same card, but will withdraw as I found a better offer, my "business" expense is actually PAYG income tax quarterly, although I guess there is some trivial amount of GST as well. Still it's not a government department and they can do what they want (I assume, as I...

    Qantas Fleet

my 767 the other day definitely had a plaque, it was further outside than the 737, and the writing was tiny. I didn't see a rego but presumed it was there. I was reluctant to ask for a stepladder given the looks I was getting from the CC (and my wife). It's definitely easy to read on a 737 and...

QF profit to fall 90% - shares falling

Even if an airline goes into administration someone can always buy it. I'm interested by the continued health of the domestic business.

QF profit to fall 90% - shares falling

Are you implying they are a good buy? It depends whether the assets are tangible like airplanes or intangibles like the logo recognition, maybe landing slots (?tangible), and I have no idea how QFF comes into that and what happens to the value of the QFF business if the airline ceased to run...

QF profit to fall 90% - shares falling

ROE is almost zero. Honestly I don't understand the rest of the airline industry or how airlines can bump along for years with no profits and going into administration again and again as happens in the US. But the picture and figures below are grim in every respect. The international wing...

    Qantas Fleet

As you enter look up at the top of the door and there is a metal plaque with the rego. Then you can tell your partner the history of the plane via google and she will quickly demonstrate how interested she is.

How many drinks is too many drinks?

It's all relative. You need to learn how to grade drinking habits in medical school so as to assess hospital patients. Basically: I am a bon vivant. You are a drinker. He is an alcoholic.

My earning rate has HALVED! How dare they?

it was definitely a point for dollar when I got it...or at least when I read the paperwork which I guess may have been as early as 2009 I only checked because an associate is coming up with their own card via their finance company and I said, "no I get better than that earn rate..." Well - I...

My earning rate has HALVED! How dare they?

I first got an ANZ platinum Visa/AMEX in April 2010. Admittedly I don't remember all the details but I earned at least 1 point per dollar on the Visa (I thought it was 1.25 but after some research, probably not). Speaking to someone with a new product today he told me that I only get .5 points...

How many drinks is too many drinks?

I'm a bit taken aback by this thread Fosters is barely alcoholic. Two beers would barely be equivalent to a small bottle of wine (200ml). Even I would only be tipsy with 3 cans and I wouldn't usually drink more than a single glass of red with dinner. If he is a regular drinker he would have...

    Nuts to Qantas

Thanks for the link. In Narita airport I was handed a wasabi root and a grater. I believe you can obtain proper paste in Japan. The high-end restaurateurs in places like Kyoto would not I believe serve mustard-horseradish concoctions. The plant at Narita may have been from New Zealand though...

When was your first flight ?

Re: My first commercial flight... MEL-LHR on an industry ticket taking in Pakistan, Iran, China, Indonesia amongst several other places almost 40 years ago! And the Ansett lounge reference brings back a LOT of distant memories of the past and of family. I remember a little lapel badge type of...
