Very good value. Sometimes a day either side doubles the price but mostly they're still very cheap for that time of year.

FWIW, I have just booked QF flights as follows: SYD - MAD - FCO - SIN - SYD. All flights either Qantas (starting with QF1) or Emirates, depart late January and arrive home mid March. Total $1400 AUD. Pretty good value in my estimation.

Returning from PNG in 2009, what else could you buy for gifts to bring home but 75cm jungle knives, a stack of them. I declared them at customs at Cairns airport and the bloke didn't even bat an eyelid. He obviously was used to seeing them come in from POM.

They just had SYD-JFK J for $3500 ($7000 return) or thereabouts on QF7/8. Pity I'm not going to New York.

FWIW I have just purchased some cheap USA fares for early 2016. I think they're still online as at 3.40pm 23/10/15 on the QF website. I payed $1099 return for QF 11/12 and $1299 return for QF 7/8.
