    LAX Airport advice needed please

Genius! Alternatively I could probably just hold my phone up to my ear as soon as I get to that point, make out like I'm in deep conversation.

    LAX Airport advice needed please

Thanks, much appreciated. I don't have any status at the moment, I gave up my flying days quite a few years ago. Just checked and yep I'm Bronze with 0 status credits. So the only priority I get is what you're given by being in Business Class I guess. Does that get me into the priority...

    LAX Airport advice needed please

Hi all, I'm off to Vegas (from Melbourne) in February for a work conference, and have a couple of questions for those of you familiar with LAX, particularly TBIT and T4. I'm travelling in Business Class, and have an upgrade request for First Class, but with zero status it's unlikely so let's...

Any tips for using points to upgrade J to First on QF93 when you have no status?

Hi again, it's been a while but you lot helped me out greatly back in 2010 when I last did MEL-LAX in business class for a work trip. I ended up using 40k points to fly in first on the A380 outbound leg. Which made the flight in business class back on a 747 feel decidely shabby! I'm making...

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

Yes, you completely missed my point. Tiger and Jetstar serve food on the plane too, Emu, and I don't think they need to. The fact that Qantas includes a cookie as a 'meal' to justify themselves as a premium carrier is a joke.

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

So make eating/food another 'routine associated with travel'. The only reason you don't do it now is because the airline does it for you. I'm so tired of people complaining about having no time in their life. I bet at least 95% of the times they fly, they arrive at the gate at least 5 minutes...

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

The world's full of people who think they don't have time to do anything...until they have to. "Plenty of time"? If you haven't got the 2-5 minutes it takes to stop and grab a ham 'n salad on the way to the gate, then you need to re-jig your travel planning. Yes, there will be the rare...

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

And I for one would welcome that with open arms (and a closed mouth)! Seriously, if I'm flying to I dunno, Bali, Hong Kong, London or LA...feed me, and feed me good. But wanting a hot meal (or even a cookie FFS) on CBR-MEL? Wow...talk about first-world problems.

Hey Qantas, why is it that ....?

...people expect to be fed on pretty much ANY flight leg within Australia? /rant on I don't understand the fascination with (let alone the constant whining about) airline food. I know I'm generalising, but bear with me....on a normal work day, when people aren't flying anywhere, they'lll eat...

    Biggest Travel Regret?

That reminds me of a trip where I had both a big regret and a big win....in the early 2000's I made a last minute decision (about 2 weeks in advance) to use QFF points to fly the gf and I to Bali from MEL to meet friends over there. Someone tipped me off beforehand that even though the...

    Biggest Travel Regret?

Not travelling more before the kids arrived. I now have 3 aged 8 down to 3, and it's so hard/expensive to fly anywhere as a family. I recently priced a Disneyland trip and it came back as something like $14k for flight/accom/park fees etc. For a week! I've taken a few opportunities as...

Do international flights get cheaper the later you leave your booking?

Yep, fair enough, it's easy to miss stuff at first glance. All good, and I appreciate you taking the time to read/reply regardless.

Do international flights get cheaper the later you leave your booking?

Hmm, my OP said I was looking at MEL-LAS-MEL, kinda thought that told you where I am! Thanks for all the replies, i've learned a lot. It's interesting, as I say if I look for that route in two weeks, price is about $1,300. Look for it on April 8, $2k. Look for it on May 8, $1,300 again. So...

Do international flights get cheaper the later you leave your booking?

Ack, thanks for the reply, I had thought school holidays were later in April, around Easter, so had discounted that issue.

Do international flights get cheaper the later you leave your booking?

Firstly apologies if this is a well known quirk of our flight system, but i'm a very irregular international flyer, in fact I haven't taken an intl flight for personal reasons for over a decade! I'm looking to do MEL-LAS-MEL dept April 8 or 9, and when i do the runaround of the various "cheap...

MEL-LAX Business Class on Qantas - direct on 747 or via SYD for the A380?

Well, it was everything I hoped it to be, a top-notch experience all-round! I might yet get to take the A380 in J, as i'm messing around with my return flight at the moment..will post more details later.

MEL-LAX Business Class on Qantas - direct on 747 or via SYD for the A380?

Well b*gger me, you're right! Which kinda blows my chance to do what I had promised via this thread...i.e. compare business class on the A380 vs the 747. But for a very good reason! Thanks to everyone for your tips, this forum has proved to be very useful. You guys rock...

MEL-LAX Business Class on Qantas - direct on 747 or via SYD for the A380?

Hmm, it appears that checkmyflight is telling me that the status of first is now "confirmed" instead of "waitlisted"...sounds promising, but i won't believe it until I see it on qantas.com.au!

MEL-LAX Business Class on Qantas - direct on 747 or via SYD for the A380?

Thanks, yes, checkmytrip.com is showing me as waitlisted for first class. I'm not at all confident of the upgrade, but hey, if the worst I can do is business class on an A380, you won't hear any complaints from me!
