Hi again, it's been a while but you lot helped me out greatly back in 2010 when I last did MEL-LAX in business class for a work trip. I ended up using 40k points to fly in first on the A380 outbound leg. Which made the flight in business class back on a 747 feel decidely shabby!

I'm making the trip again in Feb next year, full fare/flexi business class on QF93...just curious if anything's changed in the last 5/6 years? Can I still request an upgrade with points? I'm a bronze member with zero status points & 200k points, all my points come from sources other than flying these days.

I think last time the window to request the upgrade opened 7 days prior to the flight, and someone from here put me onto a website that actually showed me that my request was successful before even Qantas informed me. Anything new you can share this time around?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

A friend of mine (QF SG) just got an upgrade recently, so you might get lucky

You'll still be able to request an upgrade, though of course it will depend on availability and there will be others ahead of you in the queue.

My main piece of advice would be to fly off-peak and/or mid-week, when the F cabin is likely to be less full.
