Is there really a need for an 'international terminal?'

But surely someone at some stage has to make a record of the person leaving the country. As there isn't any "proper" outbound immigration control, it must fall back on the airline. Whether the airline forgets to remove a piece of cardboard or whether they forget to enter something on their...

Is there really a need for an 'international terminal?'

I have to say I am really liking Melbourne's setup with Domestic and International in separate parts of the same building. Makes transfers easy as.

    BNE to LHR help needed!

Why does OP need CX to get to HKG from BNE? QF97 is BNE-HKG and QF98 is HKG-BNE.

Anyone here secretly hoping the US will default?

I'd call spending $200 billion more than you have every month a "genuine problem". The Republicans were right on one point - this problem will not be solved by continually raising the debt ceiling. If someone lives month to month by putting a third of their spending on a credit card you don't...

    Qantas A380 In-flight Entertainment

I have always found that what is listed on the website and the in-flight printed guide are different to what is actually available. The website and printed guide will be the same, but only about half of those things will match what is actually available (the other half being something...

Jetstar - it was as bad as I feared

I don't think anyone has much of a problem with JQ's hard or soft product (at least compared with other Y). Our problem is with the other passengers that JQ attracts. You know there's a problem when people are smashing through tinnies of Jim Beam on a 6:00AM flight. They pack a rugby scrum to...

Does BA recognise extra baggage allowance for QFF frequent flyers on QF codeshares?

Re: Does BA recognise extra baggage allowance for QFF frequent flyers on QF codeshare An update of sorts. My bag came to 22.7kg so I can't be sure whether I would have been allowed the 32kg or not. I suspect not. BA did recognise my OW Ruby status without me needing to do anything. I snaked an...

Does BA recognise extra baggage allowance for QFF frequent flyers on QF codeshares?

Re: Does BA recognise extra baggage allowance for QFF frequent flyers on QF codeshare Thanks for all the answers. Yes, it is all on the one booking and it was booked back in December. I guess I will just turn up in CPH and see how I go. :S

Does BA recognise extra baggage allowance for QFF frequent flyers on QF codeshares?

Hey gang, In a week or so I'm flying back to Brisbane from Copenhagen via LHR, HKG and SYD. On the way over here I made QFF silver which I am lead to believe entitles me to 32kg of baggage on international flights. The first leg from CPH to LHR is a QF flight number on BA metal which means I...

Looking for intel... Darwin to Hong Kong

Yeah actually Air Asia X to Darwin makes a lot of sense to me too.

Looking for intel... Darwin to Hong Kong

I wouldn't have thought there'd be too many people in Darwin wanting to travel to Hong Kong. I say that rules out an Australian airline like Strategic that doesn't have a network feeding into Darwin already. I think it'll be a foreign airline that focusses on bringing tourists to Darwin from (or...

    What are Strategic up to?

This is totally not legal advice. It appears Travel Insurance Direct intends to cover situations such as this where people incur additional costs because of delayed flights. However, their policy does exclude loss caused by mechanical breakdown. Now, aren't the Strategic flights delayed because...

    What are Strategic up to?

That's what GOOD travel insurance is for. Plenty of the cheaper ones would not cover anything because a refund is being offered.

    Humidifier on long haul flights

I thought corrosion had something to do with it? The composites in the 787 don't corrode and thus a higher cabin humidity is permitted. I've been on a JQ flight out of Darwin where steam was coming out of the air conditioning and condensing on the sealing. That's humidity for ya!

Has any one flown REX?, if so what food can i expect?

I don't think REX actually has proper food service at all? I've only ever been given a cookie and a lolley. Pretty much what you would get on Qantas at a non-meal-time but no drink. I'd be getting on Qantaslink after 4pm for the free booze! :D

    Australian plane 'boneyard'

The average rainfall in Alice Springs is lower than the boneyards they have in America. However, I am told that Alice gets the majority of its rainfall in one hit and will sometimes get two or three times its yearly average in a few days. It is the one-off rainfall events that are the problem...

    Australian plane 'boneyard'

Alice Springs will take an A380. The runway is 150m longer than 09-27 at Melbourne and A380's land there. QF and SQ use Alice Springs as an A380 alternate. Taking off might be a different story! :p

    Australian plane 'boneyard'

It isn't going to work though, is it? It gets crazy-wet in Alice at certain times of the year.

Conflicting check-in closing times for JQ

Jetstar "international" flights from Darwin to domestic destinations say 60 minute check-in some places and 30 minute check-in other places. Like OP, I thought it was a bit rough if you took note of the 30 minute time when it was actually 60. However, these flights (at least JQ82) actually...
