    Plane to yourself? Great experience

One of about 15 on Aeoflot domestic in '95. Hang gliders laid in the centre aisle, Pilot has to climb over them to get to the coughpit. We were all made to sit up the front of the aircraft because (apparently) the Yak 154 was pitch unstable. Rather overwhelming "hostie" sat behind us to make sure...

    FIFO guy

Hi johncitizen, Try to contact the corporate travel agent to arrange for future flights to carry your FF details. I have managed to do that (it varies from client to client and corporate agent to corporate agent) and we even had one agent happy to book flights anywhere deducting the cost of the...

Earning Points at Crown Metropol (Perth)

Last time I was there they were not part of Priority Club. I managed to assign my points directly to QFF. By the way the rooms are very nice after the new owners did the makeover.

    Angel Falls

Thinking a bit more about it I reckon the best part was the canoe trip alongside the flat top mountains(Tepuis) that were, apparently, the setting for Arthur Conan Doyles "The Lost World".

    Angel Falls

I was there in the 80's. Flew from Caracas to Ciudad Bolivar (I think) and then by DC3 to some very small place and two days in a dug out canoe sleeping in hammocks in the jungle. Got within 10km of the base of the falls. Definitely worth doing...once. There was an option for a flight over the...

Downgrade of PC status after Velocity complimentary upgrade

My gold status reinstated today. Combination of mix up and system malfunction I'm told. All good.

All Mel flights grounded due to storm 16/2 4 pm

I was on QF619, BNE-MEL and got stuck 2m from gate for hour and a half. Funny thing is we were 30 minutes late departing BrisVegas because "somebody" forgot to load the luggage. Had we been on time we would have made the gate and disenbarked happily. Didn't see or hear anything of the storm but...

Downgrade of PC status after Velocity complimentary upgrade

Have emailed both VA and PC and both have responded with "we'll look into it". I will give them some time to deliberate/blameshift/ignore me then I may try the telephone  Not really important to me as my company has negotiated such a cheap room rate that no points are allocated...

Downgrade of PC status after Velocity complimentary upgrade

Re: HI Platinum Status gone already! As Gold Velocity member I applied for Gold Priority Club membership during the promotion. As I already had gold PC (expiring) I assumed it would extend it but now find I am back to Club. General all round stuff up or have some of us been stung?

generous Qantas gift (Lounge voucher for a silver member)

As a Gold card carrying member I just received a complimentary single use pass to the first class lounge (MEL or SYD ) as a "sorry for the recent inconvenience'" gift. In actual fact there was no inconvenience as,luckily, I was at work.

    Next Generation Check In

Hi Reductionist, I could never get it to work with one other (work related) pax on the one booking. This was a while ago and I never bother with the pole now, just check in with my iPhone. I also got rid of my workmate(to his own booking reference) ;). Qantas help people could not get it to...

Umbrellas and other things at Airport Screening

Re: Strange moments at Airport Security Running late for my BNE flight out of MEL on Friday and, of course, I get picked for the explosives check. Naturally I test positive for TNT. Remotely possible if I was on a drilling rig where they use shaped charges to perforate the steel casing down...

    Why I hate helicopters...

Hmm, Off to my barge in Bass Strait by Super Puma taxi on Friday. As a retired Hang Glider and Paraglider pilot I have yet to come across landings scarier than some of the ones I did ;)

    Careers/Jobs of Frequent Flyers

Offshore Crane Operator in Oil & Gas construction. Currently in Bass Strait working on the Kipper, Tuna, Turrum Project. Work 14 on 14 off so most of my travel is BNE-MEL with occasional flights O/S for training or to pick up barge. Super Puma flights are a bonus but not looking forward to...

The Qantas new bag tag test - how long will they last?

Received my replacement gold tag today, in fact they sent me two. Haven't managed to use new system yet as my work uses one booking reference for two seperate persons departing BNE for MEL and it seems to throw the system meaning an encounter with a human to sort it out.

The Qantas new bag tag test - how long will they last?

As an update to my forcibly removed tag, contacted Qantas by phone and was told I have to take bag to airport for them to assess the damage (already repaired with needle, thread and palm). They then transferred me to the appropriate person in charge of tags which turned out to be Jetstar and...

The Qantas new bag tag test - how long will they last?

My SG tag was removed with force on yesterday's flight MEL-BNE. Due to the industrial strength bungy cord the attachment point to the bag was ripped out as well thus destroying my waterproof duffle bag. I wonder if that explains the 30 minute wait for our luggage? Will call Qantas on Monday...

    Where's everybody spending Christmas Day?

Working in Bass Strait laying gas pipeline, or will be if recent storm damage to barge is fixed in time(unlikely). Otherwise sitting on barge near Port Welshpool helping with repairs. Fly out on 23rd and back home on 7th.
