I used cash for this stay so can’t comment on the points availability. It’s my first stay in a WA property but have stayed in many Conrad properties and it’s a clear step up. For mine it’s worth the premium, luxury on another level.

Regarding the pool villa upgrade, I negotiated $100USD++ per night but I did hear others were being offered much more than that so YMMV. Here are some photos, most at night however...and the mini buffet in the lounge which I felt was better than the previous process.

Have just managed to graduate to Velocity Platinum ( mostly done through SQ and EY) and noticed the upgrade certificates. Considering they are only from Freedom fares, wondering does anyone actually use them as I can't see any real value when Freedom fares are almost as much as Business fares?

Simply present your credit card at the front desk and they will swipe you in. No need to activate. There is only a lounge in SYD, it's nice but very small.

Used my Amex flights only last week and can concur that no eligible sectors and no points or status credits....just the free flight!

Re: QF Upgrade Success Rate Denied a Y to J upgrade on QF20 last night MNL-SYD. Wasn't surprised as the loads were really high and was J0 three weeks out, although got back to J2 a few days ago. Must say the crew was very average on a side note.

You just have to accept that you may not always be able to fly direct and rather have to connect. I am booked with CX in a few weeks back from LAX to SYD in J. Yes it's a long flight home but better than spending 14 hours in Y.
