Quite a strong rumour going around that QF will pull out of PER for all international flights, would not be surprised to see ADL also go!

Interestingly enough SQ has increased frequency from ADL. They are usually pretty clever with the planning!

There's not much left out of Perth (SIN and HKG), and I really get the impression they've given up on international out of Perth.

There I was hoping to fly QFI from PER to LAX direct on the new 787. Missing SYD,MEL or BNE would be a travel dream that Qantas could never think of at the moment.

I think they have 1 or 2 flights per week out of Adelaide.

Not a huge loss!

It still baffles me that you have airlines putting resources in PER (SQ putting 773's, NZ increasing Capacity etc etc etc, the new airlines starting etc etc etc), yet QF still struggle out of PER.

Is that within it's range? That would be longer than SYD-DFW wouldn't it?

LAX-MEL is already the 12th longest flight in the world.

Hell if your national carrier cant operate out of Capital cities and others can successfully and profitably why dont they just shut up shop altogather!!

Sadly.. Appears to be gradually transitioning to that level.. for so many unknown reasons.. To be perfectly honest It still baffles me that QFi is losing money.. More likely IMO 'book fiddling"..

Will be a sad day if the national carrier stops serving all state capitals. :(

They have to be doing something wrong if they can't take advantage of the mining boom.

I guess that means more SC's for those flying out of Perth to Europe and Asia.

3 return. QF81 every second day, returning the next day as QF82. Doesn't operate on Sunday, IIRC.

If true it would be a pity but not a major loss. They don't fly very many places currently and I already fly from SIN a lot.
I guess I can still get my SCs out of Perth if I go via MH (they are going to join Oneworld sometime, right?). From KUL tis a short hop to SIN or stay in KUL where I can take advantage of competition and book cheaper oneworld or other flights. Doesn't do much for convenience though. Not quite sure why I am continuing to stay with QFF though. Asia Miles or Enrich will become more tempting.

EK, SQ, and NZ seem to think they have.

NZ seem to be marketing that fact aswell. I have seen more NZ marketing around Perth then what I have seen QF.

Funny also considering that QF are downsizing their equipment out of PER (yes they get 6 extra J seats) with no pattern to the 333's going down to 332's.
Some days it is one flight, other days it is both.

I think one of the problems is with the International Airport in Perth. Before Customs ... not too bad. After Customs ... dreadful really. There is very little to see in terms of shopping, the cafes are ordinary and after around 3 minutes you have seen it all. The Qantas Club in International? The most dreadful place really. Like a reasonably sized prison cell, very few windows, ordinary food and even more ordinary staff. If I ever find myself flying out of Perth International I just wouldn't go in to the Qantas Club.

Hopefully QFi will address this in the new Airport upgrade as it has gone on much too long.
