Appears a new QF App is avail ,stumbled on it whilst updating others.Looks reasonable but haven't had a chance to play yet and haven't received any notification from QF spinning the new tool.

Nothing in the Play Store yet. Probably just end up as an iOS app like everything else.

Yeah have just downloaded it myself . Seems to be a new App which will replace the old one as its version no.1

I have added below a summary of the new App

I like the idea of the alerts. I have to admit that I updated this ap a couple of days ago (just to make the little red "1" dissapear) and was basically ignoring it. Might have to go back and check it out. Thanks for posting :)

Seems to have most things that you had to go to the QF mobile site for, still nothing particularly special about it. I do find it odd that you have to use two apps with QF to see a decent amount of information about our FF accounts. Why not combine them into one app?

Works well, though still want an app to show my activity statement, SC etc... so I know what has posted and what hasn't posted...

So once again those using Android (statistics suggest a sizeable majority) have been overlooked. We get stuck with the coughpy mobile site.

I would like your comment but it drives me batty that this keeps on happening to us because we don't want to be iSheep.

Considering more mobile and tablet users utilise Android over iOS, it seems like another massive snub and oversight on QF's behalf.

Maybe look to the cost of supporting an Android app and and iOS app and you'll get your answer.

Don't worry, the iPhone app is still the "Qantas Frequent Shopper" app. You're not missing anything!

So instead you just ignore that group of people? There's some good business logic for you
It would make more sense to just develop a mobile site for Android than an App. That's the problem with Android; Fragmentation. Different screen sizes, different resolutions, different processes, a very much so larger base of different versions of Android etc etc.

Ask any developer; they'll all say they prefer developing for iOS. Ignore the Android vs iPhone debate or being locked into either ecosystem (or any handset specifications) and the fact that iPhone is so locked in and not variable, it's a developers dream in comparison :)

Fair enough it might not be cost effective to develop a single app for Android, but if you're going to promote the iOS one as some jazzed-up, function packed loyalty tool, then at least give other loyal, non Apple users a slightly optimised mobile site so that we can check accounts, look at activity statements etc. It is a massive PITA to have to log in to the full site every time you want to check if points have posted, check SCs etc. Unfortunately when this same point was raised at the Rockpool lunch the answer given sounded almost as if it had been copied verbatim from J. Gillard's Guide To Good PR, namely "we'll look into it".

It's exactly the same, I still can't do that on iOS so you're not missing out on anything...

Couldn't agree more, enough apps already clunking my Iphone. The app itself is a tiny step forward but still lots of functionality missing- for example, the "sale alert" is a nice idea but utterly useless if you're looking for business and first class sales and the "My bookings" page misses a lot of information which you get on the proper site (upgrade requests and seating for example). All this leaves me with the question that I very often ask myself: why do you need a stupid app to begin with? In my eyes, the Iphone is perfectly able to display the proper website with the full functionality, at least if you download an alternative browser.

I use an Android phone, and Google Chrome does not display the mobile website properly, but does display the full website fine. While I can use the full website on Chrome and access all functions, it's not optimised for such a small screen. If QF could just enhance one app that will do almost all the things its full website does and release it on all platforms, that would be lovely. ;)

Just as a tip because some people might be wondering... Alternative browsers let you "mask" your iPhone as a desk top computer running, let's say, MS Internet Explorer and hence shows certain websites and functionality perfectly well rather than running onto a limited mobile version. I personally use the build-in Safari for general browsing because it's a bit faster, but websites like Qantas I open up on IcabMobile which you can buy in the AppStore for cheap but I believe there are many other alternative browsers which do the same (and many other cool things).
