Hi all, I had a booking BNE - SIN - BNE December this year in PE for 3 people. I have been emailed to say it is now just in economy (change of planes I take it). This was booked on Expedia Brazil.

Should I be offered some sort of compensation or opportunity to ask for a refund? I obviously paid more than just an economy price ticket. If so - do I need to go through expedia BR or can I go through Qantas in AU?

HELP!!!!

This will be result of an aircraft change from 747-400 to A330-300, which means no Premium Economy available on the flight. You could contact Qantas and ask to be re-routed via Sydney on QF5/6. But if there is no PE available on that flight on your travel dates, then not much choice.

If you want a refund for the difference between PE and Economy, then you are going to have make that request through the agency that sold you the ticket.

Yes, this is as a result of the change from a 744 to a 333. I also got the Portuguese email, but my QFF account shows that I have been rerouted through SYD on to QF5/6, so my PE seats are preserved.

If I were you, I would call QF and ask to be rerouted, as this is probably simpler than negotiating a refund from Expedia.

In advance of that, you could complete a dummy booking for the same travel dates in PE and see if the option to fly via SYD comes up. That should tell you if there are enough empty seats on your dates.

You are entitled to compensation, its $700 if booked in W otherwise $450 for the round trip

I would suggest waiting, and claiming the difference after the trip given .br has extra surcharges now ;)

I would be surprised if there will be any PE available by the end of the year to Singapore, they will probably swap the 744 to BKK if its still running.

Good point. Mr_Orange flight is mid year rather than Dec.

Are you sure? One of the footnotes to that PDF says, "Levels valid for all tickets issued in Australia" (my bolding).

His ticket was not issued in Aus if it is .br special....

I would use that as a guide, its very close to the fare difference of the time anyway.

I'm on QF 6 in early October in seat 1A (old First class). I hope the change to a 330 will be after that date... Not as bad as a PE to Y downgrade, but almost :(

There are 3 options. Reroute, compensate, refund. Note the last 2 would go through your travel agent.

Thanks everyone for your help. Don't really want to connect through Sydney - flying with kids.

Called the number that I was directed to from the expedia.br site (which was a US number). After about 40 minutes they were trying to call Qantas for a waiver code - but could not get through. Gave me a Brazil number to call, and said to call back on the US number if I have no luck in the next 2 business days and they will make an effort to sort a refund for me.

Will try the Brazil number tomorrow morning and see how it goes. My saving grace is that there is still nearly 9 months until the flight........

Will let you know how I go.

I thought that in Alan Joyce's "State of the Nation" address he spoke about both BNE - SIN and SYD - SIN being downgraded from 747's to A330's by the end of the first quarter FY15. Does anyone know if this is the case or if I simply misunderstood? I have 4 PE flights arranged on QF6 SIN -SYD in October so I rang the Qantas call centre a week ago to ask about the aircraft change and was told that they wouldn't be looking at what they were going to do until May 12 so I'm a bit confused!

My 747 QF52 in early Oct was shunted down to A330 yesterday. I've now set EF alerts and I'm poised ready to spring into action when better award options open up on other OW carriers.

I've got PE tickets to SIN (on QF 5/6) at the end of Nov. I hope things don't change.

Updated commercial policy has been published for QF51/52 and affected PE pax can upgrade to J for $500 each way! Sweet deal I think...

Latest Qantas News

Not bad, but adds up to $2k for a return trip for 2. I'm sticking with my re-routing via SYD and upgrade requests to J for the return leg.
