Qantas Upgrades - Successes or Failures (post results)

[downgraded]

No. Booking channel makes no difference for upgrade requests on Qantas.

No he can't ask, but you answered anyway.

Was J7 at T-96 for a late BNE>MEL departure so tried for a minimum upgrade now bid of $230 (tax deductible too).
Success at T-25.
Didn't want to bid points as not worth it.

Late report from Thursday 1 October: the happy text at 8pm the night before my 10pm HND-SYD QF60 flight, as a solo WP booked in Y (Saver fare). I have a very good track record of solo WP upgrades, and also figured a Thursday night flight might be less full than a Friday night one.

QF203 SYD to POM points upgrade to J at T-27 odd. Unexpected as I’m SG.

2 empty seats when I selected my seat. Cabin full in flight.

[GDSman]

QF75 SYD-YVR 26SEP - Y>Y+ Success...undoubtedly someone getting bumped from Y+>J helped me
QF38 SIN-MEL 10OCT - Y>J Fail...not unexpected given the seatmap from a few days earlier showed the flight as full...

[Invisible Monkey]

QF30 HK to Mel. Fiexi economy to business unsuccessful as Platinum.

It was my 27th flight on that specific route, I haven’t been tracking the upgrades but at a guess I’ve around a 60-70% success rate of upgrading with points.

[sudoer]

QF81 SYD-SIN C > F success at T-59 hours.

WP, but requested upgrade through wife's P1 account. Loads were F7 A3 at T-7 days. Dropped to F4 at T-5 days. Then F0 after my upgrade (and others presumably) was processed.

No luck for today’s POM -SYD flight.

Success for QF2 SIN-SYD on 19/10 from Y to J. Booked it only 2 weeks ago so wasn't 100% confident.

Alert came at T-62 hours.

QF74 SFO-SYD classic reward Y, failure to J, (requested to be processed as late as at the gate), but at the gate upgrade to PE. First time in PE even though I have WP LTS and am well on the way towards LTG. Previously I’ve always either had a successful upgrade to Business or complete failure and stuck in economy. My friend travelling with me but on a separate ticket who has SG unfortunately failed to get an upgrade.

The gate upgrade is a great way to end my trip.

Successful upgrade from PE to J for 3 of us on QF7 SYD-DFW. I'm WP and got notified at T-27
