New Qantas partner - Condor

Would Condor Replace Air Berlin?
In what way? AB was “enhanced” out of existence some time ago!

But if you mean - fill the Euro gap for OW, then maybe / hopefully.

I checked it, pretty useless, disappointed, Y or PE award only for longhaul. AS and B6 has access to DE J award space.

These things tend to take a few days to filter thru.

PR was a couple of weeks before J seats appeared. Now every search I do has PR J seats all over the place…

I actually came close to booking them today

I’m on a train from Budapest to Prague and got held up for two hours due to signal failures.

QFF had same day availability on Condor for BUD-FRA-PRG in J. I was ready to book but the train ended up going.

OT, but make sure you get the chit for a refund. We did the other direction and there was some sort of delay and we got pretty much the whole ticket price back!

Always good to have extra options. Although for me intra-Europe I've never found QFF points that attractive compared to most LCCs or for that matter using Avios. My go-tos for intra-Europe are Avios, United miles, Virgin Atlantic miles (on SAS) and paying using money. But if you only have QFF points, and plenty of them, it could well be useful.

If only the QF rewards finder allowed you to look for intra-European flights!

While searching transatlantic rewards, Condor had classic rewards including “premium economy” but it seems their long haul premium economy is more of an economy plus, same seat extra legroom- would be a poor use of points.

Long haul business class seat looks OK - anyone flown it?
Flew YYZ-FRA (DE2403) in Business (regular, not Prime) back in December 2024. My lasting impressions are:
  • Fun branding throughout the experience, particularly onboard
  • Comfortable seat, but would've liked more knee room when side sleeping
  • Lots of food and drink, decent quality
  • Decent IFE but fact that Wifi was paid was disappointing
  • Hot cabin and no personal air vents
  • Friendly service, but a few confidence issues when using English
  • Clunky IT (not helped by flight being booked as a WS codeshare)
  • Poor (lowest bidder wins vibes) contract ground crew at YYZ
  • Frankfurt T1 is lacklustre (but moving to T3 NS27)

Be careful what you wish for- the new T3 is god awful in many ways and only a truly dismal lounge unless you fly Emirates. Had to endure it earlier this year when arriving/departing on Cathay and it really put me off Frankfurt once again.

But back on the topic- much more positive! I had a few flights inner European on Condor (in Business only) recently and each and every flight was a delight, particularly crew wise. And compared with coughhansa- anything really works in my book and I really liked Condor. Could become a long needed replacement for Air Berlin if they joined One World. I’ve only heard good things about their international services too but haven’t tried myself. The hilarious “Germans by the swimming pool” beach towel livery alone- Gold, if you ask me!

I’m on an international flight with them as we speak

Overall a positive experience.

Seats are comfortable and modern, tech is excellent and got some handy features like a full instruction guide to using everything onboard

Food has been above average though smaller portions.

It’s not the standard of a Singapore or even a Thai for service and overall it feels more of what I would imagine Jerstar running a proper business experience would be, as in more casual but elevated

Customer service over the phone was unhelpful but maybe it was just the operator I had. Singapore always seem to have excellent phone operators when I’ve called

Would I do it again? For sure.
