QANTAS check-in? and a booking linked to your FF acc?I am always asked for a form of ID at check-in. Perhaps you mean people with no luggage
Used it the other day and what was different is that no SC have posted to my a/c at all for that sector

If I recall, Japan Airlines is also using automatic boarding gates with no biometric, even if it was allowed for the future.
You simply just scan the boarding pass, or tap your JCB card and the gate will open. If there's issues, there are 2 Japan Airlines staff who are at the gate to assist.
Back to Qantas, I sincerely hope I will be able to simply scan my Frequent Flyer card to allow access.
Or to see if passengers are bringing in excessive cabin baggage?
Having used biometrics to breeze through Incheon security and for boarding Aisiana flights in Korea, and to walk up and board the Keisei Skyliner in Japan, I have no issue whatsoever with Qantas turning on Biometrics.
It's fast, you skip queues for security checks (you have a dedicated biometrics queue at Incheon which is faster than even the priority queue).
Here's the page for Incheon - covers several airlines, and includes bag drop, security and boardingJAL have a setup for biometric check-in and boarding (international) - you need to register your face. I beleve they are working on implementing this for domestic.
The Australia Card concept was introduced by stealth many years ago. Don't kid yourself that it doesn't exist today.Heh, so now, they would have you if its true biometrics are in use, the photo somewhere to compare with, this will make it harder to have a tix in another persons name, and fly under a different name.
If its just a system that the gate opens and shuts per pax and needs a BP to be scanned and the gate opens each pax, it will take bit longer to board the plane.

They declined the AustraliaCard many years ago, once this one starts, wonder who is going to bring up the data protection personal data following me thingo sooner or later.

From colleague up aboves reply: Curiously though, Oz is one of the very few places in the world that you can rock up to a flight and not show ID.
Who knows how many peeps have flown on someone elseās ticket over the years? I guess the days of getting someone else to actually fly your manic status run are number.
Did anyone see the trial of the automated boarding gate in T3 QF SYD domestic?
Canāt wait for this to reject all the group 5ās trying to board as group 1![]()
