I've tried to avoid flying on the 3-4-3 config 777s in Y but recently had a CX flight in Y.

It was so cramped compared to the other widebodies or 3-3-3 config 777s that I would want to avoid it if possible.

Unfortunately 3 of their 4 HKG-SYD flights are now operated by 777s which is bad news for Y passengers.

LY still have a few unrefurbished 772s with 3-3-3.

I've tried to avoid flying on the 3-4-3 config 777s in Y but recently had a CX flight in Y.

It was so cramped compared to the other widebodies or 3-3-3 config 777s that I would want to avoid it if possible.

Had to take a Y flight to HKG last month and booked with HK airlines who fly an (older) A330 in a 2-4-2 layout, I chose it for this exact reason. Entertainment not as good but flight time was better and it beats being jammed in CX's 777 Y seats.

Just home after a SYD-HND, NRT-YVR, YVR-NRT, HND-SYD with JAL Econ..... mix of 787 (2-4-2) & 777 (3-3-3)

Front bulkhead seat there and back... one of the better "PE" products out there!! A little gem of OW status.

Goes from one the very best to one of the very worst Y products... having experienced a 15.5 hour YVR-SYD on an AC 3-4-3 (plus another hour on ground for de-icing), a never again if I can help it!!

Philippine Airlines' B773s do not normally operate to Australia, but do MNL-SEA/LAX/SFO and other routes, and are a mix of 3-4-3 or 3-3-3 in whY.

They are due to be replaced by new aircraft.

Agreed, it was very unpleasant in Y on the overnighter to HKG. The difference is especially noticeable when the last 777 I was on was SQ’s which is still 3-3-3.

A shame as CX’s A350s are pretty good even in Y.
