Jetstar Boeing 787 refurbishment adding more Business Class seats

View attachment 500737

For SYD-ICN. Also have the return on same PNR (booked under recent return for free deal).

You need to move both sliders, lock in using the orange bid button, then another Review and Pay takes you to a screen to enter cc details (MC/ Visa only)
Thanks for that! Very clean looking page. I do find those sliders slightly annoying when I want to lock in a specific price - it can be niggly to get it to a round number.

If you don't mind me asking, have you put in a bid? If so, are you able to adjust your bid up or down after submitting your initial bid and is there any indication that you have been outbid by others?

Haven't t put in a bid, but assume one would be able to change bids and much like the QF/VA systems there might be some form of email notification.

Ill wait to see what comes of any points exchange ratio.

Interesting they highlight SGN in the example.
I just checked a historical 'You have been selected to upgrade!' e-mail sent by JQ for SYD-SGN in 2019 and the offer was $239 back then. So if you were successful on the minimum bid for this route ($180) with the new 'BidCash' system it would represent great value. I wonder if you can also purchase a Business Max bundle if successful.

VKK still in Hong Kong, and still yet to be painted also, so seems like it will be another week or two.

Engines had been open and still working underneath it, so they still have might other issues.

You spotted it in the shed?
Currently parked outside HAECO Hanger 2 next to a AA 777 and CX 777 also on the ramp getting worked on. I’ll get another look mid next week depending what runway we takeoff from.

Seems not to be heading to Australia. Indeed seems to be a test flight, returning to HKG direction.

The original Jetstar press release said that all the 787's would be painted in the new livery so not sure why this hasn't happened?
It may yet be painted before returning to Aus (or not). Painting is pretty much a standalone process due to the dust free environment needed.

Probably the logistics around scheduling a paint post a heavy check isn’t as easy as one thinks. Especially if the heavy check gets held up, I don’t think they originally planned for 9 weeks in the hanger, but considering the scope of works for Jetstar specifically, and the MRO facility who is still fairly new to -8 heavy checks, I don't think any of these delays come as a surprise.

Having a look it appears a 787 repaint would be around 10-14 days. I’d imagine it would be easier scheduling in a repaint when it’s back in active service.

VKE hasn’t flown for a few days might be next up.

VKK still has to enter passenger service first (or possibly go for new livery paint)
Being the first I assume there are final checks, integration and new policies and procedures that need to be written or confirmed.

An OTT question: Which row is better on JQ flight - row 1 or row 2? Row 1 has a bit more leg room, but cannot put carry on bag (has to go overhead) and no one can recline into your space. Row 2 has less leg room and can put carry on underneath seat in front, and row 1 can recline ...

I’d imagine they won’t send the next one until after the school holidays. Schedule won’t work with two out of action unless they put the refurbished into service, which might create some issues with fuller cabins over the next two weeks.

It's actually a very efficient refurb at +23 J and -33 Y for a net loss of 10 seats, but also adding a crew rest.

I'm not sure how many seats are blocked for the crew rests on the longer Japanese and Korean flights (it's two In J on the medium distance flights).

Unlike the released map for JQs 321XLRs which are +12 J -36 Y to the 321LRs, though I believe with slightly more pitch in Y for the longer missions.

That's a preference question - you can also ask it in the QF main threads since a lot of people use these QF seats flying business all over the place and it's practically the same seat.

For example, I don't mind Row 1 but my wife prefers row 2.
