For those arriving 9th or prior - where are you staying?
Shall we organise a dinner?
I believe a dinner is being organised if you read back through the past few pages.

I'm arriving Saturday afternoon on QF57 and have booked Rambler Oasis for some fun, adventure and torture. I'll be heading straight there from airport.

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I won't be doing dinner. I'm staying in an industrial area and grabbing a few beers and McDonalds from airport. I'll try to get to airport early Sunday for brunch.

I can do dinner on the 9th (and/or a late-ish dinner/evening drinks on the 8th - I land into HKG at 6pm on the 8th).

Staying at Pullman Park Lane.

There has been some talk of a Yum Cha on the 9th also.

I’m arriving via QF29, staying at Kowloon side and probably won’t get there befor 7pm. Will try to join in for late dinner or after dinner drinks. Only overnighting this time so I’m unable to plan Sai Kung like previous’.

Arrive late 7 June. Staying Island Shangri-La. So I second “Summer Palace”…at least I won’t get lost :)

I am in the middle of changing up my plans but should be arriving on the 8th around 8pm. Currently staying at Renaissance on Friday and Sheraton, Macau on 9th. In saying that MrsM informed me last weekend that a list is being put together, in other words I may need to purchase additional luggage and use the city check-in, I assume luggage drop is still available, I have not had to use checked luggage in HK for a while.

All reservations are changeable and may change depending on what activities are planned, but will be staying at either Marriott/SPG or Hilton chains.

Also as this is a lounge crawl, I plan on getting into the spirit of the occasion and post a picture of all lounges on my adventure to the main event. :D

Only two weeks to go so >>

It appears there are takers for yum cha lunch and /or a dinner on the 9th.
The likely parties appear to be:
Isochronous - suggestions for yum cha at #171
Ewing - available 9th - yum cha or dinner
Trippin_the_rift - maybe dinner 9th
Eija - in HKG from 7th so ??
Matt_01 - looks like 8th is only available day in HKG as in Macau on 9th.
Aeolus - arrives early evening of 9th so maybe dinner/drinks after 7pm.
CMA222 - arrives 6th so available for all suggestions.

Can we have an indication of current interest? It looks like the numbers support dinner/drinks on 9th. Perhaps start some where around 6pm (Happy Hour??) for drinks. Perhaps Isochronous has a suggestion for dinner but probably somewhere central so those not familiar can find it without too much difficulty. We appear to be staying all over so easy access by MTR would be a plus.

Just putting my thinking cap on, If there’s a yum cha place that’s open for dinner, we could cover lunch/dinner option into 1. The Tim Ho Wan place that I know is quite difficult to find but think there’s one in Central as well but haven’t been there for dinner so no idea what they serve beyond lunch. I’m very much into absorbing the local yum cha culture in addition to the food itself, not much into the over filtered/fusion versions.

May have to revise my plans. Uni supervisor wants to meet on the Monday before they go away ( I'm planning a flight out of HKG not straight home).

Me: but I'm on a HKG lounge crawl on Sunday. Evening.
Him: what's that?
Me: (explains)
Him: :confused::eek::confused::eek: and WTF?

We have enough WPs if you want to invite him along for demonstration purposes.

My preference is always Yum Cha if available. It seems like a great solution to combine the yum cha lunch into dinner.
Tim Ho Wan are also in Perth and Melbourne so that could be relevant in future. In HKG they appear to have 4 sites although their website is rather unhelpful. One in Olympian City 2 open till 9.30pm daily. [Address: Shop 72, G/F, Olympian City 2, 18 Hoi Ting Road, Tai Kok Tsui | Olympian City Mall, Hong Kong], One in Central open til 9.00pm daily. [Address: Shop 12A, Hong Kong Station Podium Level 1, IFC Mall , Central, Hong Kong] very convenient for MRT, One in Sham Shui Po open till 9.30pm daily {address: G/F, 9-11 cough Wing Street, Sham Shui Po] so beyond Mong Kok and Prince Edward on the MTR Kowloon side. Last one is Northpoint open till 9.30pm daily [Address: Shop B, C, & D, G/F, 2-8 Wharf Road, Seaview Building, North Point]. It looks like Central and North Point are the easiest to locate.

Any thoughts??

I am me HKG on the night of the 9th I am finalising plans this week.

Thanks Matt01, I’ve got the SIM card, courtesy of another AFFer who was there earlier but appreciate your offer regardless.

Well I fly to HKG on Saturday and have just been advised that my points upgrade from PE to J on the SYD-HKG flight has come through.

Here's hoping the return flight also gets a visit from the upgrade fairy. :D
