Safest airlines list.

Statistically speaking major air accidents are so rare that trying to glean anything meaningful in terms of ranking safety is probably pretty meaningless? Perhaps there is a list of 'do not fly', and other than that we might as well knock ourselves out!
 
If you poke around on the site I sent the link for there is a list of airlines by Country that aren't allowed in Europe or have conditions.
 
Everyone is likely to have their own list. I'm not sure an incident 40 years ago is relevant today if management and culture have changed.

I don't really have an issue with any airline on that list but for me the list is much bigger. Also with airlines such as MH what do you do? Are they at fault for the 2 incidents? Maybe they are but I keep flying them.

Sure you can tag a carrier that has had an incident but as @jb747 indicated, expand the list some more and you include all the majors.
