Hi everyone - after the poll closed, we were 62 for, 4 against having AFF luggage tags. :D

Obviously everyone has their own ideas on what a tag should look like and reading the comments on the Poll, I have noted the following:

  • Good design a must
  • People are willing to pay for good quality tags
  • Status, name or other details are not wanted on tags
As I have mentioned in the Poll thread, I tracked down the manufacturers of the QFF luggage tags and have pricing from them. They can supply a kit similar to the QFF kit with a tie band and packaging if wanted!

Anyway, design first of all - all you budding artists out there or anyone with a copy of photoshop, have a go at a design - we can prob' make something from a mosaic of everyones thoughts, or we may just stumble across a design everyone (well most at least) like

Please us the following design template as it is sized right for the tags

Anat0l, can you save your ideas as .jpg files, photobucket them and post - cheers!

That's not bad, it doesn't give away where it's from, as many clubs could be classed as frequent flyer clubs.

I also like the fact that you've managed to include a map of Australia in there. Would it have a black border around it or is that just the border of the design? I almost didn't realise what the red lines at the bottom signified. Maybe I would notice immediately on an actual tag, but it took me just a little while to work out it was the arrow. I assume you played with it a little, but could it be zoomed out a little more, or does that look worse?

I guess a few people wont be happy as it's not a "premium" colour, but I think it suits very well, after all they are the colours of the site. And they match the new forum colours really well.

Just thought though, will it have anything on the back? Be the same design both sides? Cost extra to have something on the back?

The Frequent Flyer Concierge team takes the hard work out of finding reward seat availability. Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, they'll help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

AFF Supporters can remove this and all advertisements

huh?

right click on any of my pics and look at the location...

Mr!

I think what serfty means is that photobucket is blocked by his office/network so anything hosted by photobucket he can't see. Same with me actually...

Thanks for the hosting there samh004.

Thanks for the praise -the black border is the cut line only

An update...

The luggage tag thing is still on the front burner. ADMIN and I will discuss next week regarding the outcome

Please - and further ideas of tags is welcomed.

the general idea will be a plastic tag similar to a QF or DJ tag to hang on luggage - design is the issue!

Is it possible to get hi-res versions of the AFF logo, along with the names of the fonts being used? I'm no design expert but I have a few ideas..

I'm happy to set all the artwork up of the chosen design and supply the printer with the files (JPEG files etc aren't suitable for printing)

I'll probably have a tinker with it myself too, just not a lot of time on my hands at the moment.

Here here.

A PNG of the AFF logo at this URL, http://www.frequentflyer.com.au/images/home-logo.jpg, would be good, so a least you won't lose so much quality in the reshaping/resizing process. Getting the "arrowhead" motif of the AFF logo is pretty difficult and especially in high detail (i.e. smooth, vector-line edges, not jagged ones due to JPEG).

I won't upload the previous ones I had, since they kinda detract a bit from the ultimate objective. For those that tried to guess the designs on each of the tags in the old thread, they were:
  1. "Gold" tag: SYD F Lounge
  2. "Silver" (Grey) tag: one of the CX lounges at HKG - I forget now if it was the Wing or Pier - someone did guess it correctly though
  3. "Blue" tag: BKK Royal Orchid Lounge
  4. "Purple" ("moderator") tag: FRA F Terminal Lounge

In any case, still thinking up ideas - the first concept given by munitalP, however, is a very good candidate IMHO.

I got 1 and 2. I used to frequent the BKK Royal Orchid lounge, but that was in the old airport.

I quite like munitalP's design.

It's been just over a month since the poll closed.

What's happening?

I've just ordered myself some FT tags for NZ, but I'm still quite keen on an AFF tag too.

I have a design idea in mind, but could someone (admin? Or the mods?) please supply the Australian Frequent Flyer "arrow head" as a vector image rather than as a photo?

I'm having hissy fits trying to isolate the arrow head image so I can copy and customise it to suit. I'm also going bananas when I enlarge it and I can see the arrowhead in all its pixelised ugliness! And no matter how much I zoom in I cannot for the life of me reproduce the arrowhead accurately with the curves and so on.

Pretty, pretty please?

OK....here we go....first tag idea for a bit.....

The trick to this one was working out a good background image.

And can you believe how hard that is to do even with the prowess that is Google.... :(
