Hilton Q2 promo

Pretty poor value for stays worth more than 100USD/night though. On double points these would be worth 1k/night, and you'd earn point on the spend too.

Weekend nights are better, with the sweet spot being 200USD.

Oh well. Still 21k more points than I would have otherwise obtained.

Thanks for posting the link. BTE, is everyone else moving to points plus miles from now on?

1000 points for weekday and 2000 for weekend night stays.

Hilton HHonors™ - Daily Grand promotion
Thanks!

Pretty lucrative if it weren't for the recent devaluation.

If you have a bunch of stays booked it can go a long way toward compensating for the devaluation.
A lot of compensation is needed for stays at the Conrad Maldives where stays are going from 50K (less if you book more nites eg 6 nights for 37.5K/night) to 95k per night....

A quick run through my stays shows I will be down on points compared to double points on the first 5 nights of my next trip. The remaining 9 or 10 nights would have netted an extra 28k points so I don't feel it is anywhere close to making up for the devaluation. HHonors have until my diamond expires in 2015 to improve benefits, or I'll probably jump ship. 2014 will be only points stays for now.

I did say towards compensating for the devaluation. Not all situations are as dramatic as the Maldives. It is/was not on my list for consideration as I am very unlikely to be going there.

If you jump ship, where will you jump to :?:

SPG. Better for SE Asia for me, except my Niseko trip will become Canada instead, for the various Westins etc.

They seem to treat plats well, and I can get the 50 nights cheaper than 12k base points anyway. I've been keen on SPG but diamond HH was the easier of the two, with long, expensive stays.

KK, Langkawi, Nusa Dua and the Khao Lak resort are all on my radar for SPG, where hilton seem either under represented or just poorly located for my tastes. I will then aim for lifetime plat.

Hilton suits my travel patterns better or I would certainly look again.

From Silver Seas to Cunard, only when they're docked though, of course

I will be leaving HH as well if things don't change. Btw, I do have a 6 night stay at the Conrad Maldives booked which pretty much cleared my balance so at least I got some decent value before the 'enhancement'. I have a minimum of HH Gold through a work affiliation with CWT travel, so that'll do me fine as a fallback if I'm forced to stay at a HH property post Diamond fall. Otherwise, I will continue my quest to retain Hyatt Diamond (unlikely), and focus more on SPG.

Hilton still suits me best of all, but SPG are looking pretty good too. I like the SPG LTG and LTP concept but don't know them well enough yet. With the new SPG hotel coming on line in Oz (I've been told new BNE, MEL, PER and SYD) it makes them a better prospect for me. I'm also keeping aneye out for any elite improvements for IHG with the tougher qual requirements, but until that happens (if that happens) it makes it really difficult to book IHG with iffy benefits at best.

(I've been told new BNE, MEL, PER and SYD)

Really? I haven't heard about this anywhere, unless you mean the 4 points that used to be citygate? That opened/rebranded within the last 2 years. Another SPG would be nice, however.

Just check the booking engine, Brisbane and Melbourne are confirmed.

The front desk at Port Douglas Mirage told me that. I'm pretty sure he said the Syd extra would be a W and the Perth I'm not real sure what he said (may have even been Fremantle or further south), but he did say it was something additional going there.

Some of us have been on points + miles from the beginning.

First QFF points, then BMI miles and now VS miles.

BMI was the best but VS is not so bad either. Almost have enough miles for a business class one-way award SYD-HKG with HHonors and Avis car hire in the past 6 months.

Yeah, but my stays are normally higher value than effective for points and fixed miles. And not sure of the variable miles value but it's something I will need to look into.
