I am planning to book MEL-AUH using AAdvantage on EY and then book a flight to Europe from AUH also on EY but using Velocity.. The connection at AUH will only be a few hours but as the two bookings/tickets will be separate, will I need to show a visa for UAE at MEL at the time of check-in? I know aussies don't need a visa for UAE, this questions is on behalf of someone who does. If the check-in agent does ask for a visa, will showing the other booking that is departing the UAE within a couple of hours be enough?
Also will they be able to issue boarding passes for the onward flight from AUH or will the person have to go to the transfer desk? Travelling HLO so not concerned about baggage.
