Hi all.
First post here, in need of some help.
I'm a current QFF bronze holder with 151,162 points and am searching for the best way to use this.
Will want to use this for travel.
I've heard round the world fares are the best, or buying a normal fare and upgrading it to business?
Interested in going either to Europe next year or RTW is also an option. This will be with my partner.
I've never claimed any of my points, so any help would be appreciated.
Am also based in Adelaide.
Cheers

Sounds like a One World 140,000 point 35,000 mile award could suit your purposes, but not sure what your partner will do, buy a fare with cash??? Do they have any Qantas points??

Our Reservations team on 131313 are available 24/7 and would be happy to discuss your options and availability for both an Award ticket and a matching commercial ticket for your partner.

If you're looking for a round-the-world experience, may I suggest you have a rough itinerary and dates in mind prior to calling. :)

Thanks for the reply!
Partner has no points...!
That's why I was thinking it possibly may be better to purchase two full fares then upgrade them to business? That would be for the Europe trip instead of using them for a RTW fare. Thoughts?

Although I've heard there's very limited availability on upgrading fares with points???

Also my understanding with the one world booking, that's with any of the alliance partners? Is there a 'best' airline to use my points with?

Cheers

Just remember international upgrades aren't comfirmed until a couple of days prior (if you are lucky) to your flight.
Essentially it is a lottery.

Ah wow, I guess using them for an actual fare is much better then.

RTW one world 140,000 points vs a return Europe fare?

And for a low status QF freq flyer has very low odds.
On the popular Aust-USA and Aust-Dubai DXB-London LHR routes are hard to get

Be prepared to pay massive 'fuel fines' or YQ surcharges on award tickets also. Please take note Red Roo..

Cheaper to fly (less points AND less fees) on QF metal using AA points than QF points...

How do I do that? And what is QF metal? :/

If you just want to go 'somehwere'....

144,000 points for 2 x return economy airfares from Fiji to LAX on Fiji Airways (on their new A330-200 service)..... plus a couple of hundred in surcharges.

Then just add on some el cheapo flights to NAN (and a few nights in Fiji while your at it :D).

QF metal= QF aircraft. QFF points can be used to fly o there airlines also, check the qantas website.

Is there an urgent need for you to use these points? If I were in your position I would save up and try and book some premium (First or business) award seats. Signing up to some credit cards could provide a boost to your points balance.

& Please keep a watchful eye on the expiry of your points. They expire if unused for 18 months.

Nothing real urgent.
Not really possible to book a premium award seat....then I'd have to fork out the cash for my partner!
Already got two platinum Amex haha.
I thought the points don't expire if I maintain spending in certain stores or I book a want as flight regularly??? Or is it regardless they expire? Thanks all!!

Any points activity on the QFF account (plus or minus), except for family transfers, will keep the points alive for 18 months from the date of that activity, so as long as you have that activity your points will not expire. :) Easiest is something like Woollies EDR.

And welcome to AFF!
