Ho hum:

I'm trying to use Qantas to fly from HKG to MEL in J in late March (new status year, getting some early SCs under the belt). So, $22,000 is the cheapest fare Qantas can find is it?

For the Love of Mike, you are a First world, mainline airline Qantas. This is the cough you serve up to me?

Cathay! I know its a better product anyway.

One way or retun?

Even Cathay charge $34000 (J) one way, $36000 for (I) return.

I'm looking at a Circle Pacific journey, coming back via HKG from YVR. Wasn't actually pricing anything, just looking at timings, aircraft used etc, hence I just called up the one way ex HKG and the site automatically reverted to $HKG. (Didn't it use to send you off to the appropriate overseas site before if you asked for a departure not ex Oz?) I didn't really think QF was pricing at $27,000, thinking a software glitch, but those figures really grabbed my attention!

Maxima mea culpa!

I looked up YVR to HKG on the CX site just before, and it priced the journey in C$, but it actually said "C$" .

This is what I found on CX for a SYD FRA rtn in J, random dates, fully flexible fares

CX J Fares (gross).jpg

No change left from $21K

Who would ever buy these fares ?

And to think you can get this route, in CX in J via purchased AS miles for between $3K to $4K

Sheesh. I'm not having a good thread! My calc on AS miles for 1 way, not return. Abt $5K to $6K for return.

OOOps

(Slinks out of QP to sit with punters at gate lounge).

If it makes you feel any better, I've done the same thing myself, I wanted to add a HKG-SIN leg to my trip, and subsequently laughed when I saw the price. It wasn't until I was back after my first "harvyk does Asia" trip that I realised that price was prob in HKD not AUD...

SYD EUR in J rtn

145,000 AS miles [(30,000 + 42,500) x2]

Current promotion: 56K for about $AUD1200

= ~$AUD3100
