Do I apply for the supp thru Amex or direct thru PP?

regards

Rono
Yes it has. Instead of one full membership for primary, and ability to purchase discounted membership for supp, it is now full membership for primary, and also full membership for one supplementary (these are the unlimited entries for PP cardholder, pay for guests). Not sure if discounted membership option for other supplementaries still exists.

Have applied for and received the second PP (not used it though), so it is available.

Struggling to use your Frequent Flyer Points?

Frequent Flyer Concierge takes the hard work out of finding award availability and redeeming your frequent flyer or credit card points for flights.

Using their expert knowledge and specialised tools, the Frequent Flyer Concierge team at Frequent Flyer Concierge will help you book a great trip that maximises the value for your points.

I am with fersea on this one. Complaining to ACCC/FOS seems to be pointless given they haven't done anything wrong from a regulatory perspective...they didn't overcharge fees, whack a default on your credit file etc. Maybe start hammering them here - [email protected]?

Who does the email go to?

Equus, for some reason i always have trouble navigating my way around the Amex site, could you send me the link to the exact spot you are referring to?

On the Amex website - same page where you apply online for all the various hotel loyalty programs etc.

Try https://www298.americanexpress.com/platinum/au/en/login.do

Once logged in, select the "Enrol with Partners" button towards the top. When you find the Priority Pass section, you will find check boxes to enrol for Primary and/or Supplementary.

For those of you who's gone ahead and lodged a complaint with FOS, did you goto the Exec Customer Relations first or gone straight to FOS?

I can't believe I'm saying this but as inept as Citibank/CBA can be at times or putting up with Citibank's Phillipines call centre, I am having far better experience with them and they cost me WAYYYYYY LESSSSSS or free

I gave the very firm amex lady a few chances but she knows more than senior prosecutors running a case Chenault said was damaging to their business model. I'm not going thru the tactics they employed to evade their obligations in the past so I'm cc'ing the US central complaints port as well. My issues are more global and systemic, and the people I deal with jailed Qantas execs. Nemo me impugne lacessit.

you our actually get one free guest with each cardholder. So theoretically if you are travelling with the supp card holder you can have the two of you plus two guests each time.

Thanks for the clarification. I got the impression this was the case! So it's unlimited guest entries with cardholder?

Might as well get a card for the brother or parents then...

As long as you will always be together, and as long as you never need more than one guest.

Unexpected needs to travel separately can always occur - and in that case, much better to each have access.

There's no real partner here, so odds on needing more access are unlikely. Whereas the poor parents have to fly Air Canada in may, and Alaskan or United too...

Can you nominate a different supplementary cardholder for PP in the future or once you nominate somebody you can't change your mind?

Renewal fee due in 7 days. Have placed a couple of calls re fee reduction (just joined a professional association which gets reduced fee) but retentions team for Australia only work 9 to 5.30 AEDST so missed out on trying to negotiate this with them today. Don't really want to have to cancel and reapply (trip insurance for upcoming journeys is the main reason) but will have to consider it if they won't budge on the fee for my unaffiliated card. A bit tedious but probably worth it in the long run.

Hi,

Im tossing up wot to do.

they sold me their own 'stand alone' travel insurance policy because its better (somehow) than the policy in the card. (I was just desperate and busily readying myself at work so I just paid for the "better" real policy to be safe). So if the card insurance isn't as good, what am I paying $1200 for?

Has anyone taken advantage of the1 'free' extra seat on a plane deal? or there was farting around imo and oh so not worth $1200 for that 'free' flight.

I tried their customer service first. Was completely ignored so went to FOS.
At this stage they did respond to the FOS - but their response was incorrect and not true to the facts. Another request was made by the FOS for more information, but they haven't replied to the FOS, so the FOS escalated it. It is time consuming, but eventually something will happen.

I'm in the same boat.

Amex wanted me to get their 'better' travel insurance for $300 iirc rather than rely on the card insurance. Huh? What's wrong with the card insurance they've been selling all these years as part of the exxy annual fee? I just want something that's good enough if I'm in a car accident in the USA, have a cardio incident or break a leg: I think they fly you out anyway to avoid Amercan health costs anyway.

I get more bonuses from Woolies than Amex: I think I earnt 1000 bonii + 250 + 300 +250 in the last month from Woolies

Amex doesn't invite me to the special whatevers.

And they're worried about this attempt to make them stop banning Merchants from accepting better deals if you pay on Visa and Mcard. Will $1200 be 'worth it' and are they watering down Rewards with useless stuff to just look like they're the card to have?

and it looks like they are paying 1 point per dollar instead of 3: http://www.australianfrequentflyer....ex-membership-rewards-not-tracking-57528.html

(Are the FOs, ACCC or ASIC onto things like 'glitches' - their annual report says the Membership Rewards are a high $ figure in their books (even though they claim they have no monetary value ;) so there must be huge repercussions if the customers don't notice errors.

$1200 is a deal breaker for moi

Looks like I'm on the same boat now - faxed to (02) 9263 6084, now almost a week and still haven't heard anything. E-mailed them, give them till Friday to reply and if nothing is done, FOS time

Meanwhile, I've started evacuating my points out to QFF/Asia Miles and direct debits onto my CBA Diamond. Better come prepared this time to fight them/$1200 annual fee.
